The bench, led by Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna, upheld the validity of the amendment, reaffirming Parliament’s authority to shape the Preamble in alignment with evolving national values. Key Points: The 42nd Amendment was enacted during Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s Emergency era. It transformed the description of India into a “sovereign socialist secular democratic republic.” The petitioners argued these terms were inconsistent with India’s historical and cultural ethos, but the Court reiterated the Preamble’s role in reflecting the foundational principles of the Constitution. 📖 Static Info: Preamble as a part of the Constitution? Yes! The landmark Kesavananda Bharati case (1973) held that the Preamble is part of the Constitution, though not enforceable by law. Original Preamble (1950): Described India as a “sovereign democratic republic.” 42nd Amendment (1976): Added the words “socialist,” “secular,” and “integrity.” 🌟 Why It Matters: The decision reinforces the Preamble’s guiding role in shaping India's constitutional ethos and ensures that amendments reflecting progressive values are legally upheld. #SupremeCourt #Preamble #42ndAmendment #IndianConstitution0,86%
- 20 сент. 2024 г.🇮🇳UPSC MAINS 2024 ESSAY PAPER🇮🇳 Our love for cinema isn’t just about entertainment. It’s a reflection of society’s challenges, hopes, and philosophies. UPSC utilised this very well in this year essay paper.👏 1. Forests precede civilizations and deserts follow them. Lagaan – The depiction of drought and barren lands leading to hardship for the villagers connects well with the idea that when civilizations fail to respect nature, it results in desolation. Dialogue: “Mitthi ki pyaas bujhao... Varna veerani hogi sab jagah.” 2. The empires of the future will be the empires of the mind. 3 Idiots – The film promotes the importance of creativity and intelligence over traditional measures of success, with the dialogue “Chase excellence, success will follow.” This reflects how future "empires" will be driven by knowledge and innovation rather than brute force. 3. There is no path to happiness; Happiness is the path. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara – The movie emphasizes the importance of living in the present and finding happiness in the journey rather than the destination. Dialogue: "Darr ke aage jeet hai." 4. The doubter is a true man of science. PK – PK’s constant questioning of societal beliefs and traditions reflects the essence of scientific temper, where doubt leads to exploration and learning. Dialogue: "Agar bhagwan sab jagah hai toh yeh mandir ki kya zaroorat hai?" 5. Social media is triggering ‘Fear of Missing Out’ amongst the youth precipitating depression and loneliness. Dear Zindagi – The movie deals with mental health issues, loneliness, and the pressures of societal expectations. Dialogue: "Kabhi kabhi hum galat train pakad lete hai, par wo hume sahi jagah pahuchati hai." 6. Nearly all men can stand adversity, but to test the character, give him power. Sarkar – The movie shows how power corrupts and reveals true character. Dialogue: "Mujhe jo sahi lagta hai, main karta hoon." 7. All ideas having large consequences are always simple. Swades – The protagonist’s idea to bring electricity to a remote village through simple, small-scale efforts leads to profound change. Dialogue: "Main nahin maanta humara desh duniya ka sabse mahaan desh hai. Par yeh zaroor manta hoon ki hum mein kabliyat hai, taqat hai apne desh ko mahaan banane ki." 8. The cost of doing nothing is greater than the cost of doing wrong. Rang De Basanti – The film’s theme revolves around the idea that inaction in the face of injustice can be more harmful than taking imperfect action. Dialogue: "Koi bhi desh perfect nahin hota, usse perfect banana padta hai." #UPSC #UPSC2024 #EssayWriting #IndianCinema #MoviesAndLife #UPSCPreparation #LearningThroughMovies #CivilServicesExam0,37%
