كنت بكربلا يا ليت I wish I had been in Karbala *بنفسي لبيت* I would have responded with my own self *باهلي لبيت* I would have responded with my family *بولدي لبيت* I would have responded with my son *اقسمت بفضائلْ قل هو الله احد* I swear by the virtues of "Say, He is Allah, One" *لبيك يا حسين بالاهل و الولد* Here I am, O Hussain, with my family and children *مولاي ليته الشمر على صدري صعد* My master, I wish Shimr had mounted my chest *ثم تراني امي راسا بلا جسد* Then my mother would see me - a head without a body *عندنا الارثُ* This is our heritage
