  • 110 crypto shutdowns and restructurings in 2026 include $687.1M of disclosed funding DeFi accounts for 40 of the 110 cases. Infrastructure accounts for 17. Gaming contributes nine, while NFT and social projects contribute eight each. Centralized exchanges contribute seven. Wallets contribute six. DAO and incubator projects and data tools contribute five each. AI and other CeFi services contribute two each. Media and research contributes one. The events carry different economic consequences. Moonbeam wound down its parachain and relaunched on Base. Magic Eden withdrew selected services while the marketplace continued. Cypher moved into an acquisition and product transition. Storj entered Chapter 11 while its service continued. Kriptomat attributed its wind-down to the MiCA authorization path and said it remained solvent. BitMEX and BitMart announced closure schedules to be completed. After excluding six cases where operations continued and one mismatch between Movement Labs funding and the Movement network event, 59 of 103 eligible cases disclose $687.11M of historical funding. Median disclosed funding is $5.28M. The middle 50% ranges from $3.20M to $15.25M. Infrastructure accounts for $217.26M; DeFi for $153.42M. Thirty-six cases have a dated 2026 announcement, filing, halt or closure. July contains 11 events and August six. The other 19 fall between January and June. Seventy-four cases have no comparable event date and are excluded from monthly counts. Thirty-three closures also have a start date. Their median midpoint age at closure is 4.69 years, with a range from 0.6 to 12.6 years. Active projects are absent from this calculation. • Palantir grows without borrowing Palantir grows on software margins, not financed demand. Second-quarter revenue grew 93% and U.S. commercial revenue grew 149%. Management raised full-year revenue guidance 82%. The demand comes from deployed software and contracts, not owned data-center capacity. Palantir channel and rate of change That's the counterpoint to every AI name that borrows to build. $PLTR trades at $174.04, up 35% in six months. Its 12-day rate of change sits at a six-month high. The next resistance band sits at $186.65.

  • Mateusz Nowakowski of @AventusNetwork joins Proof of Vision, and puts 60% of Ethereum validators on AWS. His argument: enterprises judge decentralization on a spectrum, not an axis. What we took from it: - Enterprises do not want maximum decentralization. They want minimal viable counterparty verification, and a consortium or an internal validator often delivers it. - Grants buy developers who leave for the next chain. Retention comes from business logic embedded at the chain level. - Shared ledgers for multi-party trust are the repeatable use case. Heathrow baggage containers work without a token incentive. - Aventus Cloud nodes earn a basket of tokens across appchains. A single-chain incentive becomes a curated portfolio. - Enterprise-first skips the grant-and-churn cycle entirely. Watch the full episode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ir7jamn_agA

  • AI demand is broad. Durable cash conversion is concentrated. The latest reported periods divide the AI-infrastructure chain by who funds capacity before revenue arrives. NVIDIA produced $48.6B of issuer-defined free cash flow in Q1 FY2027, while CoreWeave and Nebius spent $5.7B and $3.4B more than operating cash flow in Q2 2026. Backlog and orders are commitments. Revenue and margin track later stages. Fund returns measure the portfolio. Takeaways • NVIDIA converted $81.6B of revenue into $48.6B of issuer-defined free cash flow in Q1 FY2027. • CoreWeave paired $104B of backlog with negative $5.7B of common free cash flow before lease-principal treatment in Q2. • Cisco's product orders rose 35%, while Applied Materials and Lumentum reported GAAP gross margins of 49.9% and 47.4%. • Riot's transition remains early: fit-out work supplied $18.3M of its $23.2M Q2 data-center revenue. Cloud builders CoreWeave reported $2.6B of Q2 revenue and $679M of operating cash flow. Purchases of property, equipment, and capitalized internal-use software reached $6.4B. Debt supplied $13.5B, and a private common-stock placement supplied another $1.0B during the quarter. Its $104B backlog and 3.7GW of contracted power establish demand without establishing earned revenue or self-funded expansion. Nebius reported $582.3M of consolidated Q2 revenue and $2.25B of operating cash flow. Purchases of property, equipment, and intangible assets reached $5.66B. Customer prepayments and working-capital timing can lift operating cash flow, while the reporting perimeter includes Avride and TripleTen. Investment still exceeded operating cash flow by $3.41B. Suppliers and transition NVIDIA's results set the current cash-conversion benchmark. Cisco generated $3.8B of Q3 operating cash flow while networking orders rose more than 50%. Applied Materials reported a 49.9% GAAP gross margin. Lumentum reported a 47.4% GAAP gross margin and a 27.8% operating margin. For these suppliers, orders and margins provide the cleaner same-period operating read. SOXX serves only as the semiconductor portfolio benchmark. One valuation ratio would mislead across this cohort. SOXX reports portfolio multiples, while capacity-funded issuers need current debt, lease, and cash operands before EV/revenue or EV/gross-profit comparisons are definition-compatible. A completed-session event-return comparison needs a later cutoff because four securities lacked a completed post-event session and Riot combined earnings, lease, and financing news. Riot described a 20-year, $9.1B lease value for future contract revenue. Current cash generation remains negative. Its six-month filing shows negative $449.0M of common free cash flow and 3.4% year-over-year growth in weighted-average shares. The base case favors businesses that turn current demand into cash without repeated debt or equity issuance. The strongest countercase is investment-cycle timing rather than permanently weak economics. Customer concentration, backlog cancellation, refinancing, and project delays can still prevent contracted demand from becoming cash. The view changes when CoreWeave, Nebius, or Riot reports sustained positive common free cash flow after growth capex without fresh external funding, or when supplier demand and cash generation deteriorate together.
