The End of Loneliness is a deeply melancholic but beautiful story about life, loss, love, and the people who shape us along the way. The story follows three siblings; Jules, Liz, and Marty, but the focus is mainly on Jules, through whose eyes we experience the different paths their lives take. What I loved about this book is how layered it is. It explores grief and loneliness, but also love, regret, family, growing up, and the choices we make. After losing their parents, the siblings are separated and each of them deals with their grief in completely different ways. As they grow older, their relationships with one another change, and so do their ideas about love, happiness, and what they want from life. There’s unrequited love, mistakes, missed opportunities, and the kind of regrets that stay with you long after the moment has passed. There’s also this constant feeling that time is slipping away, that there are things left unsaid, things left undone, and choices that can’t always be taken back. It made me think a lot about how much of our lives is actually shaped by our choices and how much is simply out of our control. If we had chosen differently, would everything really have changed, or would we somehow have ended up in the same place anyway? But despite how sad the story can be, it isn’t only about suffering. There are beautiful moments of happiness, connection, success, and love scattered throughout it. And I think that’s what made the story feel so real to me. Life isn’t simply happy or sad, it’s made up of all these little moments in between. This is a book you should take your time with. To me, The End of Loneliness is ultimately about life and all its ups and downs, and how it’s better to savor life rather than rush through it, much like this book itself. It’s not a happy story when you only look at the events that happen, but when you start noticing the small moments of warmth and happiness between them, it becomes something much more meaningful. And yes, it definitely made me cry. Why it wasn’t a 5 star read i think mainly because some parts felt a little dry to me, which I think may have been partly because of the translation. The writing is beautiful, but there were moments where it didn’t flow as naturally as I would have liked. I also found it a little too melancholy towards the end for my taste. Still, I’m really glad I finally picked this one up. It’s heartbreaking, thoughtful, and quietly beautiful, a book that makes you reflect on the people you love, the choices you make, and the little moments that make a life worth living. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #book 📚: The end of loneliness.

Madonna in a Fur Coat is a short but deeply impactful novel about love, loneliness, identity, and the parts of ourselves that we often keep hidden from the world. The story follows Raif Efendi, a quiet and seemingly ordinary man whose inner life is much more complicated than people around him realize. While living in Berlin, Raif meets Maria Puder, an independent and strong minded woman who changes his life completely. Their relationship develops in an unusual way, exploring love, vulnerability, independence, and the fear of losing someone. Raif and Maria are both memorable characters for very different reasons. Raif may seem passive and distant at first, but as we learn more about him, we begin to understand the depth of his emotions and everything he keeps inside. Maria, on the other hand, is confident, independent, and unwilling to fit into society’s expectations of women. Their differences make their relationship especially interesting. I really liked Sabahattin Ali’s writing style. His writing is simple and easy to follow, but at the same time, it carries a lot of emotional depth. He doesn’t need overly complicated language to express loneliness, love, or sadness. A lot of the emotions are subtle, and he takes his time exploring the characters’ thoughts and feelings. The way he describes Raif’s inner world makes you understand that there is often much more to a person than what they show on the outside. I think the main message of the book is that you can never truly know what someone is going through just by looking at them. People can carry entire worlds inside them while appearing completely ordinary to everyone else. The novel also explores how love can change us, and how loneliness, fear, and misunderstandings can affect the choices we make. It’s a short book, but it leaves a surprisingly deep impact. There were definitely some parts where I felt a little bored because the story moves slowly at times, but by the end, I felt that it was worth pushing through. A Day of Fallen Night is a prequel to The Priory of the Orange Tree, taking place centuries before the events of the first book. It follows multiple characters across different kingdoms as an ancient threat begins to rise again. The story is filled with dragons, magic, political intrigue, war, love, betrayal, and sacrifice, while exploring how the choices of a few people can shape the future of the entire world. Just like The Priory of the Orange Tree, the world building is absolutely incredible. Samantha Shannon expands the universe even further, introducing new cultures, religions, traditions, and kingdoms that make the world feel vast and alive. I also appreciated that the book includes maps, a glossary, character lists, and a timeline at the end. Those extra details were really helpful for keeping track of such a large cast and such a detailed world. The strongest part of the book for me was the female protagonists. Each of them had their own unique journey, strengths, and struggles, and I enjoyed seeing how their stories gradually became connected. I also loved that, like the first book, LGBTQ+ relationships are naturally included and treated as a normal part of the world, making the romance feel authentic rather than forced. My biggest issue was the pacing. The book is very long, and while I loved how detailed the world was, I think it could have been shorter. There were times in the middle where the story slowed down, and I found myself wishing for a few more dramatic moments before the ending. There are also so many characters that it was difficult to become equally attached to all of them. Even with those flaws, I was completely immersed in the story and admired the sheer ambition behind it. Samantha Shannon created another beautiful, complex fantasy that rewards readers who enjoy detailed worlds and slower storytelling. Personally, I still enjoyed The Priory of the Orange Tree a little more, but this was still an easy 4 star read for me. And if you’re planning to read the series in chronological order, I’d definitely recommend starting with A Day of Fallen Night before moving on to The Priory of the Orange Tree. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #book 📚 : A day of fallen night.
