  • 🤝 UTRADE Quick Reads 🤝 🔔 08/14/26 🔔 PSEi. The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) dropped by 1.23% to 6,288.25 on Wednesday, hitting a one-week low as Ghost Month sentiment, MSCI rebalancing, and peso weakness weighed on investor sentiment. Trading activity surged to PhP 14.25B, while property stocks led the decline. Note, ALI plunged 5.67% to PhP 14.98 after its removal from the MSCI Philippine Standard Index triggered foreign fund selling. US stock market. US equities moved higher yesterday with the S&P 500 hitting an intraday record of 7,816.70 and closed at an all-time high. This was led by gains in the technology and communication services sectors. The rally was supported by strong corporate earnings, with S&P 500 earnings growth tracking around 50% YoY. The DJIA rose by 0.13% to 53,839.99, the S&P 500 surged by 0.65% to 7,798.99, the Nasdaq Composite marched up by 0.81% to 26,803.02. Oil. Oil prices fell on Thursday after Energy Secretary Chris Wright said oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz were higher than independent estimates. Brent fell by 2% to USD 87.07/bbl, while US WTI crude dropped by 2.4% to USD 81.25/bbl. Despite the decline, prices remain up around 4% this week as a deal between Washington and Tehran to increase shipping through Hormuz remains elusive. Currency. The Philippine peso weakened by 16.3 centavos to PhP 61.343/USD on Thursday from PhP 61.18 on Wednesday, marking its weakest close in two weeks amid fading hopes for a US-Iran peace deal. The currency traded between PhP 61.18 and PhP 61.44 during the session. #InvestSmarterwithUtrade Telegram : @DailyTITO

  • 🤝 UTRADE Quick Reads 🤝 🔔 08/14/26 🔔 FGEN. Global investment firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. (KKR) has proposed increasing its stake in First Gen Corp. (FGEN) and launching a tender offer for the company’s remaining public shares, a transaction that could lead to FGEN’s voluntary delisting from the Philippine Stock Exchange. Under the preliminary, non-binding proposal, KKR would acquire an additional 8.43% stake from parent First Philippine Holdings Corp. (FPH), which currently owns 67.84% of FGEN, before offering to buy the entire 11.67% public float; KKR currently holds a 19.9% economic interest. AC. Ayala Corp. (AC) posted a 1.4% increase in 2Q26 attributable net income to PhP 10.9B as revenue rose 8.6% to PhP 98.3B, although faster growth in costs and expenses capped earnings expansion. For the first half, core net income fell 7% to PhP 22.1B as weaker contributions from ALI and lower non-operating income offset stronger results from ACEN and ACEIC, steady earnings at BPI, and improvements across emerging businesses; reported attributable net income declined 2.1% to PhP 22.9B. Portfolio performance remained mixed, with ACEN core earnings up 21% and ACEIC net income nearly doubling, while ALI net income fell 19% and GLO core earnings slipped 2%. TEL. PLDT Inc. (TEL) posted a 14% decline in 2Q26 attributable net income to PhP 7.6B as higher depreciation, amortization, and other expenses outweighed a 2.1% increase in revenue to PhP 55.5B. 1H26 attributable net income fell 5.9% to PhP 16.5B, while core income was broadly flat at PhP 17.3B as Maya’s sustained profitability helped cushion softer telco operations. TEL is also leaning on its data center business, which grew 13%, with capacity expansion plans and a potential REIT listing of up to USD 400M aimed at unlocking value from its digital infrastructure assets. PAL. PAL Holdings, Inc. (PAL) swung to a 2Q26 attributable net loss of PhP 6.1B from a PhP 3.3B profit a year earlier, as expenses rose 31.6% to PhP 55.7B and outpaced the 10.8% increase in revenue to PhP 51.4B. Flying operations costs surged 68.3% amid higher fuel prices, pushing 1H26 attributable results to a PhP 1.8B loss despite an 11.2% rise in revenue to PhP 103.8B. FDC. Filinvest Development Corp. (FDC) posted a 9.7% decline in 2Q26 attributable net income to PhP 3.4B as expenses rose 21.5%, outpacing the 13.7% increase in revenue to PhP 29.8B. Meanwhile, 1H26 net income was broadly flat at PhP 7.4B, with stronger real estate and hospitality earnings offset by weaker banking profit and softer power revenue. ROCK. Rockwell Land Corp. (ROCK) posted a 24.7% increase in 2Q26 net income to PhP 1.4B as consolidated revenue rose 37.2% to PhP 7.1B, supported by stronger real estate sales and leasing income. 1H26 attributable net income climbed 42% to PhP 2.7B, with revenue up 41% to PhP 13.6B, driven by higher residential project completion and stronger commercial operations following the consolidation of Alabang Commercial Corp. The company also deployed PhP 7.6B in project and capital expenditures to support its development pipeline. PGOLD. Puregold Price Club, Inc. (PGOLD) posted a 10.8% increase in 1H26 consolidated net income to PhP 5.9B as net sales rose 10.6% to PhP 121.5B, supported by stronger same-store sales and improved gross margins. PGOLD same-store sales grew 3.7%, while S&R warehouse clubs posted 12.8% growth on higher customer traffic. The group ended June with 794 stores nationwide, supporting continued expansion and earnings growth. #InvestSmarterwithUtrade Telegram : @DailyTITO

  • The Fed’s Credibility Is on the Line, Ed Yardeni Warns The U.S. economy has survived higher rates, tariffs, inflation, geopolitical shocks and repeated recession warnings. Ed Yardeni says there’s a reason: the American consumer remains remarkably resilient. In this conversation, Yardeni explains to Maggie Lake why he believes the economy could stay strong through the end of the decade — but warns that the Federal Reserve now faces a serious credibility test as inflation remains above target. We discuss why Yardeni thinks the Fed should move in September, the return of the “bond vigilantes” — a term he coined in 1983 — the risks building in Japan, and what the next inflation report could mean for markets. Yardeni also lays out his provocative “G-shaped economy” thesis: older, asset-rich Americans are thriving and spending, while younger generations continue to struggle with housing and affordability. Topics include: • Why Yardeni calls the U.S. consumer “bulletproof” • The Fed’s September decision and inflation risk • The return of the “bond vigilantes” — and why long-term yields could revolt • Japan and the threat of a renewed currency crisis • The “G-shaped economy” and America’s generational divide • What investors should watch in the next CPI report https://youtu.be/l7THu396JJ8?si=r7kNUA79ZmSfQiN_ Telegram : @DailyTITO

  • 2Q26 Earnings: GDP Misses, but Consumer & $ICT Shine | Market Movers (August 10, 2026) In this episode of Market Movers, we unpack 2Q26 earnings with a focus on consumer sector resilience. Although GDP growth slowed due to lower government spending, consumer demand remained firm, continuing to drive 70% of the economy. We analyze how staple-focused companies like $URC, $CNPF, $DNL, and $RFM managed spiking fuel and input costs while spending noticeably shifted from luxury items and gambling toward basic necessities. Beyond consumer goods, we examine defensive positioning in the banking sector amid rising impairment provisions, $CEB’s fuel-driven losses, $GLO’s Mynt-related sell-off, and $ICT’s standout margin expansion. Join us as we highlight where dividend yields, balance sheets, and operating growth stay attractive, alongside what these second-quarter results signal for long-term domestic resilience as infrastructure spending normalizes. https://youtu.be/CH9SKTg92RY?si=DOIvmNnCnG5oo0Pa Telegram : @DailyTITO
