I've once again updated the dustbuilder with new firmwares (1782) for: - X40 Ultra - X40 Master - L40 Ultra - P10 Pro Ultra Ping me if anything catches fire. They come with an update to the obstacle avoidance model as well as probably logic changes. I'd be curious if now the selected floor material actually sticks. 🤞

FYI: The maintainer of the Roborock Home Assistant integration found a way to fully disconnect current-gen (and older) roborock vacuum robots from the cloud. No disassembly nor soldering required. And fully reversible even. You can find it here: https://github.com/Python-roborock/local_roborock_server (It's entirely unrelated to our stuff, but it might be interesting to you people regardless. I haven't tried it.)
PSA: If you're planning on swapping out the battery in your aging Dreame bot, be very careful. In newer Robot and thus Battery revisions, Dreame appears to have switched around the polarity of the Battery connector, whilst still using the same connector. If you ever wanted to talk to me in person about vacuum robot hacking, you might have the chance at DEFCON in Las Vegas (07-10.Aug) or NULLCON 2025 Berlin (04-05.Sept). I will have rooting adapters with me to both events. Remember to bring your Dreame or Roborock employee ID. [1] https://nullcon.net/berlin-2025
Hey people, today I am pinging you for a different reason than usual. Specifically, it is about Valetudo and its future. Or rather the lack of it. To cut straight to the chase, someone was banned four moths ago, who did not take it lightly that he was banned. Banned after many warnings, many dialogs and many exchanges that unfortunately did never fully resolve the fundamental incompatibilities. Banned, because it did just not work out. Since then, he - Returned with multiple multi-accounts - Told me that I'm a fraud and that he's going to expose me - Leaked a private picture of me on which he wrote the text "The GOD of vacuum robots SUCKS" (yes, really) - Got access to said picture through being in my phone contacts and violated that trust specifically to hurt me by destroying anonymity - Partnered up with some other banned guy to build a subreddit trying to build some critical mass I guess - Has been basically non-stop bad faith trying to use my own words against me - Let me know regularly that he is still on it He has (and he actually said that) made it his mission to liberate Valetudo from me, never asking the question what would be left then or who would be building it. And it is working, because I indeed lost most if not all motivation to do anything with, about or for Valetudo. The reason I'm pinging you all is that you should be aware of it, because I believe that this mostly works through being in the background. If you believe that that is a good thing, no action needed from your side. If not, however, I could *really* use your help. Your help should not be to just parrot what I'm saying, because that's the narrative this guy has spun. In his mind, I am this super manipulator that is holding Valetudo hostage also against the will of Dennis and only by slaying the dragon can the people be free. I do not think that this makes much sense, because the thing with super manipulators usually is that they resort to taking someone else's stuff. That doesn't really fit here. But alas Anyway, you're all adults so I think you can make up your own opinion. If that opinion turns out to be favorable to me, I'd be really glad if you could do something to make this stop. Speak up. In your own words. With your own thoughts. Say something. If not, no hard feelings. Obviously, I'd be kinda sad, but evidently, in that case, I would not have managed put up a convincing case so what can you do. I would have loved to keep this channel purely technical, but this random meaningless internet drama is continuing to escalate into being an existential threat to what I am doing. That is something you may or may not like. Hence, you should be aware of it. Finally, if you allow me to say at least one thing to add some kind of spin: Valetudo is and always has been Open Source under the permissive Apache-2.0 license. It is not and never has been monetized.

Somehow related to our Robots, as its made by Dreame and runs the usual vacuum robot/lawnmower software stack: Our Xiaomi Cyberdog was stolen recently from a storage unit in Amsterdam, including the batteries and the huge suitcase. If you live in or around the Netherlands, and are interested in tech, there is some chance that you might see it somewhere for sale or someone might offer it. There should be a very, very small amount of Cyberdogs (Gen1) in Europe. If you see one, especially with DEFCON and other hacker con stickers on it, please contact me. There is some chance that whoever stole it, might try to offload it outside of NL. With that, there might be some new Salea Pro 8 Logic analyzers being sold, too. If you have any questions or hints, feel free to PM me.

Important update for X40 Ultra & L10s Ultra users We've identified two issues breaking obstacle avoidance caused by mismatching bootloaders If you have an X40 Ultra and are unhappy with its obstacle avoidance performance, you're probably affected by this. You can verify that it is the case by watching the robot through a phone camera while cleaning. If you don't see it projecting its IR line lasers in front of it, then you're affected. For the L10s Ultra, you can tell by the camerademo command failing and/or you never having seen any obstacles in the Valetudo map view. Starting today, for newly rooted robots, this is now already fixed. However, if you're already rooted, you will need to update the bootloader manually. To do that, first, make sure that you still have the backups of your calibration and identity data. You took those during rooting. If you don't have them anymore, first, go back to the rooting instructions on valetudo.cloud and recreate them. Once you have your backups, take the attached file in the comments that matches your robot L10s Ultra => r2228 X40 => r2416 copy it to the robot verify the md5sum b063417dd4c950571c031ee54bde4359 toc1_r2228_3407.img 640d815aac66c4285ac4a7178f7008da toc1_r2416_1652.img and flash it by running ota-burnuboot ./<filename> DO NOT USE ota-burnboot0. That's the wrong command. After that, reboot and verify that the issue has been fixed through the means mentioned above. Be aware that this is a DANGEROUS process through which you CAN BRICK your robot. DON'T do it remotely without paying much attention. DON'T flash any random files. DON'T flash these onto any robot other than the X40 and L10s Ultra. This is a specific fix for a specific issue of those two robots. This will NOT work as a solution for any other issue you might experience now or in the future. Don't try it. You will just brick your robot.
