A guest issue today by Yong Feng of SG Climate Rally: “Today, many have come to see that any limited gains from participating in this system and giving it tacit approval are not worth the consequences of losing hectares of precious forest year after year: forests containing complex ecosystems that cannot be simply replaced with planted trees. That is why we call on you to join the Maju For The People rally this Sunday, 3.30–6.30pm, at Hong Lim Park.” https://www.wethecitizens.net/ma/

The 9th World Congress Against the Death Penalty in Paris has gone by in a flash. At the closing ceremony, TJC was one of two organisations presented with the Documentation Award. (The other was Iran Human Rights, who do amazing and amazingly brave work tracking executions in Iran.) I’m so proud and grateful that TJC’s work has been recognised by allies and comrades in our shared struggle for the abolition of the death penalty. I’m so proud of TJC as a collective for what we have done over the years, and what we continue to do together. It hasn’t been easy in so many ways, but we’ve been able to achieve more together than any of us could have done alone. And we won a documentation award at a time when the government’s POFMA orders essentially left us with no choice but to give up our website and multiple social media platforms until the end of this year! ✊🏼✊🏼✊🏼

I missed a day because of a cancelled flight but I have made it to the 9th World Congress Against the Death Penalty in Paris 🇫🇷! This morning, TJC was represented on a panel about the war on drugs and the death penalty. This afternoon, I’ll be moderating a session on the socioeconomic realities of the death penalty.
Some weird glitch happened and the newsletter didn’t send this morning despite my scheduling (and I didn’t notice until now because of the time difference…) This week: Questions about Singapore's pro-Mandarin policy, the use of the ISA, and salary issues for migrant workers (again). https://www.wethecitizens.net/wtc-wrap-27-june-2026/
Event alert! A day of events organised by the Transformative Justice Collective this weekend, for the global Support. Don’t Punish campaign. https://www.wethecitizens.net/event-alert-we-keep-us-safe/
I’ll be in Paris for the World Congress Against the Death Penalty next week, where I’ll be moderating a panel on the intersection of socioeconomic realities and the death penalty, but also speaking at this side event on capital punishment in the Asia Pacific—representing both the Transformative Justice Collective (TJC) and the Anti-Death Penalty Asia Network (ADPAN). Looking forward to this session with friends and allies! If you’re in Paris and registered to attend the World Congress, you can register for this side event. See you there!
