PAP Marine Parade division is expanding its Open Fridge Day to Marine Drive this Saturday, Aug 15 morning. The initiative, which is held at the branch at Marine Terrace, allows Marine Parade residents to collect daily necessities from the fridge. Joanne, a volunteer with the PAP Marine Parade division, said the team organises the Marine Parade Care Fridge every two to three months to help residents cope with the rising cost of living. MP Goh Pei Ming hopes to reach residents living further from the branch, prompting the team to organise this care fridge at Marine Drive. At a recent PAP Policy Forum (PPF) event, Minister for Education Desmond Lee shared his views on the challenges involved in reforming and bettering our education system. "As parents, we naturally want the best for our children, and many of us participate in this arms race reluctantly, even as we wish our children had more space to explore, play and grow," said Minister Desmond Lee. “Education reform requires judgement and courage. But we must be able to make bold and wise decisions to build a better future for our children.” 👉 https://pap.sg.tinyc.co/113

Minister Tan See Leng, who is a doctor by training, recounted his own entrepreneurial journey of starting Healthway Medical Group along with a few other doctors at 27. He shared how established global companies in Singapore helped a homegrown Singapore company like his to start establish credibility to grow. Drawing from his experience, he said he learnt that the Government must build the runway, but entrepreneurs and workers have to run on it and take off.
Parliament passed the amended motion, titled “An Economy of the Future That Works for All” after a 9-hour debate. Speaking in support of the amended motion, PAP MPs warned against viewing SMEs and global enterprises as competing choices, when Singapore needs both to flourish and provide good jobs for Singaporeans. Responding to the motion, MOS Dinesh Vasu Dash and SMS Low Yen Ling reiterated Singapore's economic strategy as one that puts Singaporeans at the heart of its policies. 👉https://pap.sg.tinyc.co/localcompanies
Second Minister for Finance Jeffrey Siow challenged the Workers' Party's characterisation of Singapore's economic model. He stressed that Singapore's economic strategy centres on Singaporeans. Economic growth serves as a means to an end: creating better jobs, higher incomes, and better lives for Singaporeans.
Speaking in Parliament, Patrick Tay, MP for Pioneer SMC, highlighted how the ESR roadmap can strengthen pathways for local PMEs and help young Singaporeans build successful careers. "The ESR recognises PMEs as a group deserving enhanced support, and that it prioritises investment in AI technologies that augment rather than displace workers," said Mr Tay. He also lauded the expansion of the Overseas Markets Immersion Programme, which gives local talent opportunities to gain international experience and lead abroad.
Addressing claims that entry pathways for young jobseekers are broken, MOS Dinesh Vasu Dash laid out the facts in Parliament. "More than 62,000 jobseekers secured employment after benefiting from WSG programmes and services. Among jobseekers who received career-matching services in 2023, about six in ten found employment within six months," said Mr Dinesh. Acknowledging that the outcome is not perfect, Mr Dinesh reiterated the need to strengthen what works, instead of dismissing a system that is delivering real results.
