Peak Copper. Wikipedia scrubbed the Peak Copper entry too. Redirects to Copper Extraction. Anything Limits to Growth related has been memory holed.

The Russian Outlook on Industrial Decline with Dmitry Orlov Dmitry Orlov was a prominent voice in the early 2000s peak oil movement in response to his book "The Five Stages of Collapse", comparing the recent collapse of the USSR with the likely prospects of the USA under similar circumstances. He has since moved from the USA back to Russia, where he continues to monitor history as it unfolds. This conversation was a rare opportunity to delve into the Russian outlook on the state of the world from one of my favourite writers.
It's Not Oil Prices That Cause High Inflation, It's Gas and Diesel Prices Are Skyrocketing

• Britains rapid turnover of prime ministers stems from deep economic decline, not just individual policy failures or personalities. • Tim Watkins argues that Keir Starmers resignation joins a pattern where no recent leader has sustained public approval, regardless of character or platform. • The collapse of manufacturing and export industries north and west of London has created a permanent north-south economic divide. • Margaret Thatchers "managed decline" deliberately abandoned struggling industries, using North Sea oil revenue to cushion the blow rather than rebuild. • Overvaluing the pound to maintain import purchasing power has repeatedly prevented industrial reinvestment, a choice dating back to the 1920s and Churchill. • North Sea oil and gas provided a temporary lifeline, masking Britains structural weaknesses until production peaked and permanently declined. • Financial deregulation turned the City of London into the economys dominant sector, but its need for a strong currency conflicts with domestic industrys needs. • Post-2008, living standards fell for most people, fueling voter disillusionment and a turn toward fringe political parties. • Governments now rely on austerity and tax rises to prop up the pound, worsening public anger and investor confidence without fixing core problems. • Watkins concludes that until the political class lets the pound fall to match Britains diminished export capacity, the cycle of short-lived leaders will continue. https://consciousnessofsheep.co.uk/2026/06/30/the-end-of-managed-decline/
The shared barrel problem: Not all grades are the same and they all produce different proportions of fuel. e.g. a barrel of shale yields mostly gasoline and light fuels whereas tar sand produces more diesel. So if orange faggot wants to make sure diesel prices stay low in order to fight inflation by banning diesel exports, there would be a surge in gasoline and jet fuel prices simply because refiners cannot adjust the production of those other fuels when catering to diesel alone. The other fuels would have to makeup in price for lost profits/sales revenue from a diesel export ban. The energy cliff starts with energy price volatility. https://t.me/CIG_telegram/78302
A Sustainable Future Is Impossible (Due to EROI) Can renewable energy replace oil? Green tech depends on fossil fuels for mining, manufacturing, and transportation. The issue isn't oil scarcity, but extraction costs. EROI (Energy Return on Investment) dictates that when extracting a barrel requires more energy than the barrel provides, production halts—not because oil is gone, but because it no longer makes sense.
