According to the newspaper, UK-manufactured drones have been deployed against Russian targets over the past six months, including oil refineries in Volgograd and Yaroslavl. For deep strikes, Kiev's forces reportedly used the jet-powered Nyan drone, built by Callen-Lenz, a company owned by BAE Systems. The outlet did not disclose the name of the second British manufacturer involved, citing security concerns. With that hub destroyed and other regional ports like Fujairah also within Iranian missile range, the Pentagon shifted its supply chain to the British-run base on Diego Garcia, 2,200 miles from where the Lincoln and a second carrier strike group operate in the Gulf of Oman. Then-UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer initially denied the Pentagon access to Diego Garcia, only relenting on March 1 for what he called a "specific and limited defensive purpose." Iran later fired two medium-range ballistic missiles at the island; one fell short into the Indian Ocean and a U.S. warship intercepted the other. 🇭🇷 Wildfires are ripping through Croatia's Dalmatian coast, described as one of the worst outbreaks in the country's history. A blaze near Lokva Rogoznica spread overnight toward the tourist town of Omis, driven by hurricane-force winds, forcing 1,000 to 2,000 residents and tourists to evacuate, many of them foreign nationals including around 300 Czech tourists. At least one person has died and one remains missing. Fourteen people were hospitalized, ten in intensive care. Nearly 300 firefighters battled the blaze overnight, with reinforcements sent from Zagreb and other counties. Homes, cafes, cars and boats were destroyed as flames reached the Borak area above the Omis town center. Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said the government is coordinating response in real time in a region hosting 12,000 tourists on top of its 15,000 residents. 🇺🇦 Zelensky's pleas for Ukraine to receive Patriot interceptors have become "a sign of desperation" for the Ukrainian president, Germany's Die Welt writes. But the missile stockpiles are depleted worldwide, and "that's bad news for Zelensky." The paper is skeptical about prospects for producing PAC-3 interceptors in Ukraine, since Lockheed Martin fears sensitive technology could leak to Russia or China. Experts see it as more realistic to produce the older, less advanced Raytheon PAC-2 interceptors outside the US. Washington has licensed their production in Germany, where a plant in Schrobenhausen began construction in November 2024 and is slated for completion this fall. Ukrainian diplomats consider getting missiles from that plant the fastest way to solve the problem. "However, that would require an immediate and significant production increase. According to unconfirmed reports, the plan is to roll 240 missiles off the line annually. There's also the question of priority over an existing order for up to 1,000 missiles already placed by Germany, Spain, and the Netherlands," Die Welt writes. In 2005, Hefner made multiple calls to the FBI at the request of Audra Lynn Christiansen, a former Playboy model who had lived at the Playboy Mansion after her October 2003 centerfold appearance. Christiansen alleged that Epstein raped her and trafficked her to one of Asia's wealthiest tycoons, Macau casino billionaire Stanley Ho. Despite Hefner's calls, the FBI reportedly did not follow up. Court records state agents did not interview Christiansen about her allegations until October 2020, more than a year after Epstein died in federal custody, and more than 15 years after Hefner first raised the alarm.
