WAEC POSTPONES RELEASE OF 2026 WASSCE RESULTS. The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has postponed the release of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results, which had been scheduled for Monday, August 3, 2026. In a statement issued on Monday by Moyosola Adesina, Acting Head of Public Affairs, for the Head of the National Office, the Council announced that the press briefing to officially release the results had been rescheduled. The statement read: “Please be informed that the press briefing to announce the release of the results for the WASSCE for School Candidates, 2026, has been rescheduled. “The new date and time will be communicated to you shortly. “We sincerely regret any inconvenience this change may cause.” Earlier reports in July 2026 indicated that the Council had entered the final stage of result processing and was expected to release the 2026 WASSCE results on Monday, August 3, subject to the successful completion of all necessary procedures. -EXAMBASEEDUFORUM

Apart from these three main activities, there were also short drama presentations and traditional music performances, but the dance, food and fashion parade stood out the most. It has been quite a while since I last wrote to you, and I really miss our chats during break time. Things are mostly fine here, though school has been a bit busy lately. I decided to write because I want to tell you all about our Cultural Day celebration. It was one of the most interesting days we have had this term, and I know you would have enjoyed it if you were still around. Our school organised Cultural Day two weeks ago, and the whole place was full of colour, music and different traditions. The teachers told us about it early so that every class could prepare something. We spent almost two weeks practising, and on the actual day everyone came dressed in traditional clothes. Let me tell you about at least three activities we did. The first activity was the cultural dance performance. Different groups from Junior and Senior Secondary performed dances from various parts of the country. Some students danced the energetic Yoruba bata dance with talking drums, while another group did a slow and graceful Igbo dance with a lot of waist movement. There was also a Hausa group that performed with horses made from cardboard and colourful costumes. My class chose a mix of dances from the South-South. We practised after school almost every day. On the day itself, the whole hall was clapping and cheering. Some of the dancers almost fell because the stage was a bit slippery, and everyone laughed, but they quickly got up and continued. The judges gave prizes to the best groups, and my class came second. I was not dancing, but I helped with the drums, and my hands were sore by the end of the day. It was still fun though. The second activity was the traditional food fair. This one was my favourite. Each class was asked to prepare or bring different local dishes. There were tables lined up in the school field with all kinds of food. You could find pounded yam with egusi soup, jollof rice made the proper way, moi-moi, suya, akara, pepper soup, and even some dishes I had never tasted before like afang soup and edikang ikong. The Home Economics teachers supervised everything so that the food was clean and safe. Students and teachers walked around tasting small portions. Some people went back for second and third helpings. I tried the suya and it was really spicy, but I still finished it. There was also a small competition for the best dish, and Class SS2A won with their well-prepared ofada rice and ayamase sauce. The smell of all that food filled the whole school, and by afternoon almost everyone was full and happy. A few students even went home with leftover containers. The third activity was the cultural fashion parade. Students walked across the stage wearing traditional outfits from different ethnic groups. Some boys wore agbada with matching caps, while the girls wore iro and buba with beautiful headgears. There were also people in northern-style flowing gowns and others in colourful wrappers from the East. A few students mixed styles just for fun, and the audience laughed and clapped a lot. One boy from my class wore a very big gele on his head as a joke, and the teachers had to ask him to remove it because it kept falling. The parade took almost one hour because there were so many participants. After the walk, some students explained the meaning of their clothes and where the styles came from. It made me realise how many different cultures we have in just one country.
