For those writing mains this year Answer writing to score more than 400+ in gs requires three imp pillars of preparation. 1. Basic knowledge of every topic written in the syllabus. You can easily google each of these topics and you’ll get coaching notes for the same (1-2 A4 sheets ). 2. Having data (1-2 points ) for each topic . This includes numerical data , reports , case laws etc . This you can get through Mains 365 or google . 3 . Creative part : this part helps you score more than average in gs . This includes charts , maps , flow diagrams etc. So make sure you prepare this way , covering pillar by pillar . Most important being pillar 1 i.e basic knowledge. All the best guys !!! Hello everyone, I hope those who have appeared in this year's prelims would feel that this year's papers both GS And CSAT were on the easier side as compared to last year. But we must not discount the pressure of the examination hall . So I don't believe that the cutoff would sky rocket suddenly. Saying that I would suggest you all to take 1-2 days off , have some rest , spend time with your parents, friends and then get back to studies after that. Hello everyone, Tomorrow is the D-Day, for those who are appearing there are certain things that worked for me for the past two years . 1. Do not panic , treat it as another mock. You'll easily score the average of past 5-10 mocks that you have given . 2. Take proper sleep and if in any case you are not able to sleep , have something like black coffee or Red Bull. 3. Since it's very hot especially in the central and Northern part of the country avoid travelling in the break between Gs and CSAT papers. Take your lunch with you or manage it nearby restaurants.. 4. I never revised on the morning of D-day. 5. Avoid attempting questions if you are facing a concentration dip , which we all do. When our brain fades and we are not able to comprehend question. Take a break , have some sips of water and then start again. 6. Before you get the question paper , try and revise those things you have learnt by heart. For eg : fundamental rights. This will give you confidence that you remember everything. Instead of recalling something you hardly remember because that instills fear of forgetting everything. Therefore to be confident apply this technique. Believe me guys , its more about staying calm under pressure. If you have worked hard , believe in your preparation. For CSAT 1. Dedicate 1st hour for maths , reasoning etc. 2. As soon as the first hour is over , switch to comprehensions. 3. Don't waste more that 1 min in any question that you think is difficult to get hold off. All the best !!! Keep your calm !!✨ .

Hello everyone, Prelims is just 4 weeks from today . Those of you who are appearing for this year's prelims , just focus on revision and mock test for the next 2 weeks. Observe and rectify the mistakes you are making in the static part of the syllabus. Don't take much tension about the marks you are scoring in these mocks . Just be more considerate about reducing silly mistakes. These mocks should help you decide the number of questions you should attempt at prelims. For me it used to range somewhere between 88-93 questions. Just keep in mind last year the cutoff was 75. If this trend of low cutoff in prelims continues ( which depends on the difficulty of the question paper) and you attempt 91 questions and end up getting 52 correct and 39 wrong, then too you'll score 78 ( which was more than enough this year) . It's not the time to doubt your preparation at all . This is the mistake many aspirants make and give up at the last moment. Give you 100% , just continue, trust your process.

1. For those preparing for civil services and not appearing for other examinations: I believe this examination has a bit of a luck factor involved and a lot of subjectivity especially in mains and interviews. One cannot rely completely on this exam and even if you are not preparing for any other examinations , keep an eye on other examinations with similar syllabus and appear for them with your CSE preparation. For eg. CSIR , NABARD exams. 2. For those only preparing for CSE , but appearing for other examinations too : You guys are doing it right , I'll just suggest a slight change in your strategy. Strategy is mentioned at the end of blog. 3. For those preparing for multiple examinations along with CSE : See , there is a lot of competition in every examination, approx for every 1000 vacancies, 5-8 lakh people fill the forms . You cannot afford to divert your attention every now and then for upcoming examinations and land up nowhere. Strategy that worked for me : 1. Planned preparation for CSE , while having an eye on upcoming forms and examinations having similar patterns. 2. Practice basic mathematics once or twice a week for an hour. This would aid in your CSAT preparation and also for appearing in other examinations. You can see short trick videos for various topics on YouTube. They are taught by many tutors for SSC CGL. This helped me score well in CSAT every year. 3. 1-2 weeks before any exam , other than cse , try and look at the previous year cut-off of that exam . You'll get an idea , how much you need to attempt to clear that exam. 4. See the question paper pattern , for eg. How many marks are allocated for various sections, how much time is allocated and acknowledge your strength. For me it was gs and English. I tried to score sufficient in maths and reasoning to clear the cutoff. 5. Attempting some mocks for the exam you are appearing for ...2-3 would be enough to get you in the grove. These above mentioned 5 steps will help you score Better than average in examinations other than cse without hampering your CSE preparation. You need to walk an extra mile to have what you want. I know your ultimate goal is CSE but seeing the uncertainty you can't jeopardize your career by not appearing for other examinations.

I always aspired to clear Civil services but after initial failures, I had to get a backup for my financial independence and career security and therefore I started attempting various other examinations while preparing for CSE.

GS SCORECARD HAS ALWAYS BEEN GOOD , SCORING ABOVE 405+ , but both the times i.e in UPSC 2022 AND 2023 I could not score good in my optional.
