𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿 | 𝗡𝗼𝗮𝗵 𝗔𝗸𝗹𝗶𝗹𝘂 Securing game-changing capital without signing away a single share of your company is something you find once in a lifetime. Our Comms Manager, Noah, highlights why the Entrepreneurship World Cup is a rare strategic move for founders. Equity-free funding on this scale is exceptionally hard to come by, making EWC an unmatched opportunity to help you grow without diluting your ownership. In addition to the immediate non-dilutive capital, the competition also equips local founders with high-value perks, enterprise-grade software, and cloud infrastructure credits that significantly lower operational costs. For homegrown startups navigating tight resource constraints, these non-cash benefits provide the exact runway needed to build resilient tech infrastructure, optimize products, and reach profitability faster. If you are ready to fund your next growth phase while keeping 100% control of your vision, this is the opportunity you cannot afford to pass up. What is Entrepreneurial Competence, and how do we enable investment in it? Entrepreneurship is often discussed in terms of funding, but we need to ask a deeper question: Are entrepreneurs equipped with the competencies needed to create, grow, and sustain successful ventures? Entrepreneurial competence is the combination of knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors that enable individuals to identify opportunities, develop innovative solutions, mobilize resources, make informed decisions, and create sustainable value through entrepreneurship. It isn't only about starting a business but more about having the capacity to navigate uncertainty, understand markets, build strong teams, manage resources, attract investment, and scale impact. But developing entrepreneurial competence requires investment. So, how do we enable investment in entrepreneurial competence? ✅ By building quality entrepreneurship education and practical skills development programs ✅ By providing mentorship, coaching, and access to experienced networks ✅ By creating investment-readiness pathways that prepare entrepreneurs for capital ✅ By connecting founders with markets, technology, and strategic partnerships ✅ By building ecosystems where talent, capital, and opportunities can grow together The future of entrepreneurship depends not only on how much capital we provide, but also on how prepared entrepreneurs are to use that capital to create sustainable businesses and meaningful impact. A question for entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, and ecosystem builders: How can we build a future where investing in entrepreneurial competence is valued as much as investing in companies? Yesterday, the African Development Impact Forum at the UNECA hosted a vital, paradigm-shifting conversation centered on the theme, "𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘮𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘏𝘪𝘨𝘩-𝘎𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘵𝘩 𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘩 𝘌𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘑𝘰𝘣𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘈𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘢." Representing our association on the distinguished panel, our President, Samiya Abdulkadir, joined fellow guests to interrogate whether entrepreneurship is truly a reasonable pathway to creating jobs for Africa's youth, or if it must be reimagined as something far broader than mere employment. During the panel, she directly engaged with an active audience to address participant questions regarding proven models to solve high-growth bottlenecks, specifically outlining how to pilot actionable ecosystem solutions over the next 12 months. Grounded in our six years of ecosystem building, from the impact of our KENA and Zelela initiatives to mobilizing over 20,000 entrepreneurs, she presented our clear framework for what African youth actually need: moving away from fragmented donor projects and repetitive assessments toward a coordinated, collaborative ecosystem backed by real investment capital. She also detailed a concrete pilot roadmap for the coming year, mapping out the precise commitments required from key strategic partners to drive real business growth. In this model, the ECA will convene pilot countries and establish an accountability framework for ecosystem coordination, while the AfDB deploys its Enable Youth capital directly into investment-ready, EYEA-affiliated enterprises. Simultaneously, Afreximbank will open a dedicated trade finance window for growth-stage, youth-owned businesses across the pilot countries, leaving us to lead the central coordination, replication design, and the upcoming ADIF 2027 impact report. We want to thank UNECA for organizing such panels that shift the dialogue from mere discussion to tangible and systemic action.
