Scott Milinsky, 79, from Pompano Beach, FL, became the second Floridian with early Alzheimer’s to receive Kisunla (donanemab), an FDA-approved anti-amyloid therapy by Eli Lilly. Over 18 months, 18 infusions cleared all detectable amyloid plaques in his brain, confirmed by PET scan. Though not a cure—Kisunla doesn’t target tau tangles—removing amyloid slows cognitive decline, extending independence. Dr. Hazel Wiley, his physician, notes this can significantly improve quality of life. Over 60 patients now receive Kisunla at Broward Health. Clinical trials support its efficacy: donanemab reduced amyloid levels, with many reaching amyloid-negative status (Mintun et al., 2021, NEJM). A hopeful step for early Alzheimer’s patients. #Alzheimers #MedicalBreakthrough #Kisunla FactFlicks
