The man, Adrián Simancas, says he thought the whale had swallowed him. "When I came up and started floating, I was scared that something might happen to my father too, that we wouldn’t reach the shore in time, or that I would get hypothermia," he said. Both men returned to shore with no injuries.

⚡Ohio lawmakers have proposed a new law that bans men from ejaculating without intent of conception, would fine men up to $10,000 per ejaculation. The bill was brought forward by Democratic State reps Anita Somani and Tristan Rade. Men would be charged with a felony under the law if they engage in unprotected s*x without the intent of impregnation. Exceptions under the law include people ejaculating in the LGBTQ community, sperm donation, and masturbat*on. The lawmakers say the point of "The Conception Begins at Erection Act" is to "call out the hypocrisy" of "bills that regulate women’s bodies." Men would be charged $1,000 for the first offense, $5,000 for the second offense and $10,000 for any offense after.

⚡Four people briefed on the DC crash say the Black Hawk was flying too high *and* was outside of its approved path when it collided with the American Airlines flight, according to the NYT. The helicopter pilot acknowledged how they were getting too close to the plane yet somehow collided with it anyway after being warned by the air traffic controller. "The air traffic control tower had given the helicopter pilot permission to fly no higher than 200 feet, said the people, who were not authorized to speak about the matter publicly," The Times reported. The development from the outlet comes after President Trump questioned why the pilot was flying so high. "The Blackhawk helicopter was flying too high, by a lot. It was far above the 200-foot limit. That’s not really too complicated to understand, is it???" Trump posted.

⚡New Jersey school teacher arrested for allegedly having a child with a 13-year-old student who was living in her home. The relationship began when teacher Laura Caron was about 26 years old and the child was 11. In December, the victim's father noticed that the child looked like him and his son, raising concerns. The alleged crimes took place for about four years, between 2016 and 2020. Caron taught the victim and his brother when they were in 5th grade. "Over the years, the parents of the victim said the family became friends with Caron, which ultimately led to them even allowing their boys and daughter to stay at Caron’s home at times," ABC 6 reported. The victim’s sister says her brother was about 11 years old when he started sleeping in the same bed as Caron. The teacher would reportedly go into the bathroom while the victim was showing, lock the door, and r*pe him while the other siblings slept. The victim has admitted to being the father of the child.

⚡At least 15 killed on Bourbon Street in New Orleans after driver intentionally slams truck into crowd; dozens injured A man intentionally drove a pickup truck into a crowd of revelers on Bourbon Street in New Orleans' French Quarter early on New Year's Day, killing at least 15 people and injuring dozens of others, officials said. The driver then opened fire at police officers, injuring 2. The suspect has been confirmed dead after a shootout with police. A black ISIS flag was flying from the truck's rear bumper, and the attack is being investigated as an act of terrorism, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said. The man driving the vehicle has been identified as Shamsud-Din Jabbar, 42, a U.S. citizen from Texas, the FBI said. In televised remarks Wednesday evening, President Biden said the FBI has determined that just hours before the attack, Jabbar "posted videos to social media indicating that he was inspired by ISIS, expressing a desire to kill."

⚡Body-cam footage released showing New York correctional officers smirking as they "fatally beat" a man in handcuffs. Sickening. 43-year-old Robert Brooks passed away on Dec 10 at Wynn Hospital in Utica, NY. The New York Attorney General’s Office of Special Investigations has since launched an investigation, saying the "videos are shocking and disturbing." Brooks was sentenced to 12 years in prison in 2017 for first-degree assault. The incident followed a transfer where Brooks had been moved from Mohawk Correctional Facility to Marcy Correctional Facility on December 9. Brooks could be seen being assaulted by the officers in what CNN describes as a "fatal beating." Audio of the tragedy was not activated. It's unclear what exactly led up to the incident. "We will not rest until we have secured justice for Robert’s memory, and safety for the prisoners at Marcy Correctional Facility," Brooks' family said.
