Britain, Italy, Switzerland and Indonesia are reportedly being considered for a mission to verify Hezbollah’s disarmament in southern Lebanon. I don't like this idea. Israel does not need another foreign military presence on its border. The foreign UN Peacekeeping forces did not help, and when things became intense, they ran away. Lebanon should be responsible for dismantling Hezbollah’s weapons and military infrastructure. International partners can assist with verification without becoming a permanent force along Israel’s frontier. And if Hezbollah rebuilds, Israel must retain full freedom to act.
