The 2026 school selection starts today in all schools across the country. In all, each student will select a maximum of 8 schools. Parents can also download the new 2026 school selection register here. The school selection period officially ends on 7th August, 2026, per the release by the Ghana Education Service. Ghanaeducation.org is urging parents and teachers to ensure schools selected for candidates do not only meet the rules laid out for selection, but more importantly, the schools must be based on the aggregate obtained by the students. The fact that a student wants to select a category A school does not mean he or she qualifies for it. Taste and mere preference must not guide final school choices to ensure that students get placed into schools that their BECE results give them an urge over others. The Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the TVET Service, has officially released the 2026 Second Cycle Public Schools Register. This essential 2026 School Selection Register document can be downloaded here and serves as the primary guidebook for all Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates, parents, and guardians as they navigate the upcoming Senior High School (SHS) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) selection process.
