GSEM research is becoming more visible in China 🇷🇺🇨🇳 Our journal R-Economy, published by the Graduate School of Economics and Management together with the Institute of Economics of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, has become the first UrFU journal to be indexed in CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure). If you've heard of Scopus or Web of Science, think of CNKI as their Chinese counterpart – the country's largest academic platform used by universities, researchers, and students across China. This means that the full archive of R-Economy (since 2017) will soon become available to millions of readers, making research from GSEM more accessible to one of the world's largest academic communities. The journal focuses on regional and urban economics, sustainable development, BRICS countries, and the Global South, which are increasingly important for international research and collaboration. Another step toward making GSEM research visible where it matters 🌏

☀️🌏Summer has officially become international! Today, GSEM UrFU has welcomed participants of the Summer University 2026 — an international educational project bringing together over 400 students from 16 countries at Ural Federal University. Over the next two weeks, they'll explore sustainable development, AI, digital transformation, international business, and innovation, work in multicultural teams, develop projects with industry partners, and discover both Ekaterinburg and the Urals. Our English-language track, Sustainable Leadership & Impact Management, Creative Tech: ESG, AI & Communications, has already kicked off with its first lecture delivered by Professor Zhanna Belyaeva, Academic Director of GSEM. As our International Affairs Office Director Ekaterina Demchenko puts it, international programs are about much more than learning new concepts, they help students learn to work across cultures, understand different perspectives, and develop the global mindset today's leaders need. 💡 The best startup ideas usually don't start alone The 13th Doing Business in Russia International Summer School is underway at GSEM! The Doing Business in Russia International Summer School is now in full swing at GSEM! More than 50 participants from Russia and around the world are working in international teams, developing startup ideas, meeting entrepreneurs, and exploring how business works in one of the world's largest emerging markets. But international education isn't only about lectures and workshops. It's also about getting out of the classroom, discovering a new city together, trying something new (yes, even paddleboarding!), and building the kind of friendships that make teamwork even stronger. Over the next week, participants will continue visiting innovative companies, attending INNOPROM 2026, and turning their ideas into startup projects. We're excited to see where those ideas and this journey will lead 💙

🎓 Not every graduation goes exactly as planned. Sometimes it rains. Sometimes things don't go quite the way you imagined. And somehow... those are the moments you remember most. Last weekend, thousands of UrFU graduates celebrated the end of one journey and the beginning of another. Despite the weather, despite the unexpected twists, the square in front of the university was full of smiles, hugs, photos, and people who had spent years learning, growing, and building friendships together. Congratulations to all GSEM graduates! 🎉 Your diploma is only part of what you leave with. The projects you worked on, the people you met, the challenges you overcame, the countries you discovered, and the memories you created will stay with you much longer. 🇨🇳 Ten days, countless memories, and a few tears at the end 🥹 Our GSEM students have completed the International Summer School at SWUFE in Chengdu, one of China's leading universities in economics and business. Over two weeks, they explored Chinese companies, worked on projects, discovered Sichuan culture, and, of course, met students from around the world. The programme ended with final presentations and a closing ceremony, where all participants received certificates. 💬 "This was our first experience studying abroad, and it turned out to be truly special. We were amazed by the campus, fell in love with Chengdu, tried Sichuan hot pot, and even met the famous pandas. But what we'll remember most are the people. In just ten days, we became close friends, so saying goodbye was warm, and a little sad," shared Arina Kim and Lada Brazhnikova, first-year students of International Economics and Business. That's probably the best part of international mobility. You come back with new knowledge, but also with stories, memories, and friends scattered around the world. 🌍💙
