👍 UrFU Continues to Develop Cooperation with Indian Colleagues 👩‍🎓 Eduard Patrakov, professor from the Institute of Physics and Technology, had a meeting with Mr. Debabrata Chattopadhyay, Consul General of India in Ekaterinburg, to discuss large-scale projects that are implemented with Indian colleagues. ⚡️One of them is "Safe behavior on the Internet: research, training of teachers, parents, and adolescents" supported by the Indian SPARC Foundation. Additionally, a multidisciplinary team of researchers from UrFU, India, and Brazil has submitted a BRICS grant application on the topic of analyzing autism development risks in early childhood. 🇮🇳 Mr. Debabrata Chattopadhyay supported the Eduard Patrakov's idea of visiting significant universities in India to deliver detailed lectures about potentially promising achievements in partner universities.

🐄 UrFU Graduates Created a System that Helps Farmers Out 👍Graduates of the Engineering School of Information Technologies, Telecommunications and Control Systems created and implemented a unique system that tracks cows' health. With this project, they won the All-Russian "Startup as a Diploma" competition. "At the moment, we have launched several modules – the weighing module, the chromatin determination module, and the identification itself. Now some enterprises have a thousand heads; however, only two or three veterinarians are working there. So, they can't physically walk around a thousand cows in a day, and the system, as it were, examines each cow individually several times a day," says Kirill Belotserkovsky, the author of the project. 💻The intelligent system uses computer vision and neural networks to monitor animals in real time – a zoo technician or veterinarian can assess both the health status of the entire herd and track the progress of a particular animal. ➖Watch the report by Vesti.Ural

💖 Chairman of the Organizing Committee of International Festival of Youth Visited Ekaterinburg 🏛️ Sergey Kiriyenko, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the International Festival of Youth and First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration, inspected the UrFU campus and assessed its readiness for the event. In less than a month, the first festival participants will arrive in the Sverdlovsk Region. 🤩 UrFU Rector Ilya Obabkov spoke about the features of the country's newest largest campus. "A large‑scale program has been developed for participants from 190 countries — from creative labs and workshops to lectures, sports, and cultural events. A total of 650 events will be held, with about 2,000 artists performing," said Denis Pasler, Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region.

🤩💨 UrFU Alumni Took Part in Launch of Russia's Largest Wind Farm 👍 In July, the second stage of the Novolakskaya wind farm in Dagestan was commissioned. Rosatom experts worked on the project, including alumni and Master's students from UrFU Ural Power Engineering Institute (UPEI). 👷‍♂️ Key contributors: ➖Alexander Firsov & Egor Savin – software architecture and programming ➖Dmitry Bliznyuk & Matvey Semenov – power control algorithms and digital model verification 🏭 The main challenge: the second stage was launched at an existing facility, so all updates had to be done without stopping production. The first stage (152.5 MW) continued to operate smoothly throughout. 👌 Many specialists joined Rosatom after their third year and stayed with the company. 🏳️ Denis Pasler and Ilya Obabkov Discussed the Strategy of Personal Training at UrFU 👍 During a working meeting, Denis Pasler, Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region, and Ilya Obabkov, Rector of Ural Federal University, discussed the plans of the country's largest university to train specialists for all sectors of the economy of the future. "The university effectively works with enterprises to train highly qualified specialists for the tasks of the Sverdlovsk Region. In cooperation with the federal centre, we are strengthening the material and technical base of the university, modernizing it, creating an educational ecosystem so that young people from all over the country receive high-quality education in the Middle Urals and, having assessed all the possibilities of the region, stay and work in the Sverdlovsk Region," said Denis Pasler. ⚡️This year, UrFU has already received 52 thousand applications from all over the country and from other states.

🪆 "Russian Language – the Energy of the Future" Intensive Concluded at UrFU 🇷🇺🇲🇳A 16 day summer camp brought together 20 Mongolian high school students and 20 teachers at UrFU. Participants improved their Russian skills, explored the Urals, and learned about the energy industry. "The Russian language is becoming a career building tool because the expansion of cooperation between Russia and Mongolia in the fuel and energy sector creates demand for specialists who know technical terminology in Russian. We have moved away from standard models of linguistic camps and focused on the synergy between humanitarian knowledge and engineering education," said Ksenia Vaulina, director of the Sverdlovsk Regional Foundation for Youth Initiatives Support. 🏭 Students took 24 hours of Russian classes, while teachers completed a 72 hour training course. The program combined lectures from UrFU Power Engineering Institute experts with visits to four energy enterprises. The cultural agenda included excursions, museums, and walks across the Urals. 🧳 The next phase will take place in Mongolia, where trained teachers will test the methodology in local schools.

❤️ Ilya Obabkov: UrFU Will Develop AI Solutions for Applicants UrFU Rector, Ilya Obabkov, participated in a conference with the rectors of leading Russian universities to present the first admission results on August 6 in Moscow. "This year, we received 51,500 applications, which is 18% more than last year. In addition, the university set a new record for targeted, separate, and special enrollment quotas, with growth seen across the board. Four IT programs and 'Construction' are among the top five most popular fields of study by application volume. 🇨🇳 UrFU Journal Is Included in the Largest Scientific Database of China The scientific journal R-Economy founded by the UrFU and the Institute of Economics of the UB RAS is included in the largest electronic libraries of scientific publications in China, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI). 💻 The archive of the journal from 2017 will soon appear on the online resource and will be available for free download. 👩‍🎓 R-Economy is a peer-reviewed online journal publishing original research articles and reviews in the field of regional economics and urban studies.
