A Religious Groom… Yet No One Is Ready to Give Him Their Daughter? A Major Fitnah of the Ummah — Making Nikah Difficult Two cries that no one seems to hear 1. A mother’s cry > “Hazrat! My son is now 32. He is a Hafiz, an Aalim, and can also lead prayers. We have been looking for a suitable match for the past five years. Wherever we go, we hear the same response: ‘Sorry.’” 2. A daughter’s cry > “I don’t want a Maulana. How much does he earn? Where will he take me for outings?” And after six months, the same daughter is crying: > “My husband doesn’t come home at night. He doesn’t ask about my well-being or care about me…” What kind of era have we entered? When girls themselves reject religious men This is perhaps the most painful part. Ask: “What kind of husband do you want?” The answer is often: > “He should be religious, but not a Maulana. He should pray, but he shouldn’t have a beard. He should be respectable, but not from a madrasa background.” 🔖 Why this contradiction? Because we want religion, but we do not want a religious person. Young men whose futures are being affected A 30–35-year-old young man may spend his nights in Tahajjud and his days teaching children the Qur’an. Yet he struggles to find a wife and build a family. And then daughters suffer In the pursuit of a particular “lifestyle,” some choose men who may be irreligious, addicted to alcohol, or involved in immoral relationships. Two years later: three cases, one child, and either divorce or Khula. Then comes the regret: > “I wish I had married that religious man.” What happens to our Madrasas? When an Aalim is no longer respected, why would a father encourage his son to attend a madrasa? Twenty years from now, who will be available to lead our prayers, perform our funeral prayers, teach the Qur’an, and solemnize our Nikahs? When Nikah becomes difficult, sin becomes easy Difficult Nikah = easier path toward Zina. Expensive Nikah = sin becomes cheaper. Who will bear the responsibility? Have we chosen society’s standards over Allah’s command? Allah says: > “Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the one with the most Taqwa.” (Qur’an 49:13) Yet we have replaced Taqwa with wealth, status, cars and material possessions. Money, cars and comforts may come later. But if Iman is lost, bringing it back is not guaranteed. A bitter truth for our daughters My daughter, listen: > The day you choose the world over your Deen, you may unknowingly trade away your peace. You may receive a thousand likes on Instagram, but when the night becomes difficult, there may be no one to wipe your tears. Even a palace cannot bring true peace if the husband does not know how to bow before Allah. To our scholars and young men: fulfil your responsibility too Brothers, do not merely complain. Work on yourselves as well. Character: Be gentle, kind, smiling and helpful. Simplicity: Do not demand dowry. Make Nikah simple: Become an example for others by keeping the marriage simple and blessed. History bears witness Khadijah (رضي الله عنها) married the Prophet ﷺ. Fatimah (رضي الله عنها) married Ali (رضي الله عنه), and their home was one of simplicity—even having a hand-mill in the household. Did they not find peace? Did their homes not become homes of Jannah? True peace is not found in money; it is found in the pleasure of Allah. The decision is in our hands We have two paths: 1. Give our daughter to the wealthiest man. Spend enormous amounts on dowry and extravagance. Perhaps one year later, we hear: > “Our daughter is suffering. She wants a divorce or Khula.” 2. Give our daughter to a righteous, religious and good-charactered man. Perform a simple Nikah and build a marriage upon faith, character and mutual respect. Thirty years later, people may say: > “MashaAllah! What a blessed family they have become.” 📌 If we reject people of knowledge and righteousness today, tomorrow our lives may become spiritually empty, and our graves may become deprived of the legacy of faith.
