It is that we constantly hear some belittling and looking down upon us; from brothers who are graduates of universities, toward people like us who study in institutes like this online . This matter weakens our motivation to continue and prevents us and makes us feel incapable of conveying knowledge, because we did not travel in pursuit of knowledge—despite our attempts to do so—but Allāh decreed that it was not destined for us. What is your advice and guidance for us? Will we be like those who sit directly with the scholars in seeking knowledge? And how should we deal with these brothers? I hope that the answer will be recorded on YouTube. May Allāh reward you with goodness. The answer to this question : It is not permissible for your brothers to discourage you from seeking knowledge. Knowledge is something that is sought legislatively; rather, it is among the greatest acts of worship. Whoever seeks knowledge through any of the legislated means—whether from a distance, like this institute (Ma'had Murtaqaa), or from close proximity, like attending the gatherings of scholars—then he is praiseworthy. Whoever is not able to attain perfection in seeking knowledge, then at the very least he should attain what is less than that. Whoever does not attain all of it, then there is no harm in sufficing with some of it. The Prophet ﷺ said: "إذا أمرتكم بأمر فأتوا منه ما استطعتم" “When I command you with a matter, then do from it what you are able.” And Allāh, the Exalted, says: "فاتقوا الله ما استطعتم" “So fear Allāh as much as you are able.” So we say as a message to those who discourage others: fear Allāh, and do not hinder your brothers from the path of seeking knowledge. Rather, what is obligatory upon you is to encourage them. and We say as a message to you who are afflicted with this: Be patient, do not despair, do not lose hope, and do not let these people affect you. Instead, remain firm and be patient. A person may attain a great deal of knowledge—by the permission of Allāh—through listening to lessons, through reading, and through institutes like this and others. A person may acquire a great amount of knowledge, inshā’Allāh. So do not pay attention to these people. Answered by Ash-shaykh dr.
