There are so so so many people in debt, on the poverty line, all here around you. Be more confident of your Deen and your studies and apply the rules of Zakat as you have been taught. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to discover folks in need. And you don't need to put them through the Spanish Inquisition each time to see whether they're deserving of it or not. Have some faith. And if that's too difficult for you, then give it "back home" to family who can distribute it to hundreds of people in a blink of an eye. 3. Reciters and your desires As the last ten nights kick in, Qur'an recitation becomes in vogue again. That's another mess which is only getting worse, and again, from all sides. Ultimately it is WE who have created this industry where we slather over auto-tuned performances from studio set-ups in Salah, that have turned this from God's work into a real catastrophe for the intentions of the reciters themselves, may Allah forgive us and them, and protect them. The Sunnah will be thrown out of the window. You want long, emotional, crying du'as of witr, whereas the Sunnah is the exact opposite. But of course you will win. And your Masjid will cater for you. And they will get that du'a in for you sometime soon. There are plenty of reciters practising for it! Likewise the reciting: you desire tuneful, sing-songy performances with drama and theatrics that Youtube is more than happy to serve up. Before it was just nasheed artists having a foray, but now the young ones who should know better after studying with the masters cannot resist either. This example is perhaps the least offensive and yet look at the theatrics, look at the fake facials - it's little more than showmanship. Similar to the witr du'a performances, this is of the same ilk - a set group of verses revised again and again for a IG/YT performance, polished to perfection to use in public again and again. As for the private? As for fulfilling the haqq of the opportunity and blessing that you have been gifted? Allahu'l-Musta'an. This is how the young reciters today have become addicted to fame and adulation, because you the public want such performances. Insist on better. From yourself and from them. When you hear takalluf and showmanship, vote with your voice and feet. ————- Finally a note for the students of knowledge on the Sunnah of giving advice. It always starts in private, maximum effort, until there is no other option left but to go public and try there, and if that fails then we warn the masses from the danger and misguidance and let the community do its part. In the IFG example, we see the blessing of sincerity. A few private messages from myself to their main folks and they immediately jumped into action and fixed the issue. In the latter example, no such luck with the private hence the public, and then even the public previously hasn't done the job so now we advise stronger. Yes it's embarrassing for me that one of my very own students misread the room and used a fatwa to satisfy an urgent community need from Zakat funds. And yes it's embarrassing for me that one of my very own children is so in love with his own voice and not in love enough with the silence, hard work and years needed of effort and wisdom and bruises to lead the community in every way he should be. But I can tell you something even more embarrassing - just one second in front of Allah jalla wa 'ala trying to justify our silence. So never let any excuse get in the way of doing the right thing folks. Reflect on this key act of 'ibadah too in these last ten nights, not just prayer and du'a, but the irreplaceable and essential act of worship of our time: enjoining the good and forbidding the evil. May Allah forgive us for our mistakes, allow us all to learn and grow, purify our intentions, allow our best actions to be performed in these generous times, and may He accept from us all of it. Ameen.7,70%
- 16 июл.Salams folks! 👀 Man, I've tasted what it's like to lose access to Telegram and get done over with VPNs etc and hence completely behind on my socials game but now I'm back home after 2 months on the road and trying to catch up and now about to ensure you guys catch up with the latest updates as well! ▪️firstly, after another incredible Hajj experience a month ago, we go again for Hajj 2027! Only for the folks you care about and you feel they have what it takes to deserve to be in this gathering, then give them this link: hajjwithae.com/register ▪️secondly, and this really is buzzing news tbh, but our flights etc have now been confirmed for Aqsa and the 3 Sacred Cities Program, which really is a big thing. There is no turning back. If you have the ability, you have to go. I think we will close for new applicants in the next few weeks so don't delay. ▪️thirdly, I'm not even sure whether you guys knew but Fiqh of Salah was released online, the big massive production one. If you know family or friends that haven't downloaded it, then it's clear you hate them. Like, really detest them. Please don't be that person. Be nice. Spread some love and earn some sadaqah jariyah, cos' it's the greatest online production in history ever mA and it closes in exactly 24hrs so don't say you weren't warned. ▪️in the next month we'll be releasing more details about the LP revision sessions, exams and then the restart for the new LP year and the new subject - the Book of Funerals (!) - but for now, these are working details for the sessions covering the 'Eid, Eclipse and Rain Prayers: Session 1 - 12/8/26 Session 2 - 19/8/26 Session 3 - 26/8/26 Prepare for the exam to be on the weekend of August 29th, and for the new LP year to start Wed 2nd iA! QP updates to be sent soon iA. ▪️I've confirmed a WHOLE load of classes this year btw, some classics plus a new one as well called Elite on selected hadith mA. I don't want to burden y'all now with what it's about because all the details are up and will soon be up on almaghrib.org However, I am so happy to be returning back to Canada and there's a LOT I'll be doing there over the Summer in a city near you! Get ready Calgary, Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto - I'll be doing the new class Elite there, and ART in Calgary in two weekends time. I'll also be doing a few private sessions on the weekend of August 29th in Toronto, but those will be capped to a small number and might not have much space tbh so ignore that for now. Also, even though I'm gutted to miss it myself, Ilmsummit has its last few spaces left for folks not staying onsite... But then in equally exciting news mA, it's back to Scotland on Sept 4th weekend, and then back to Cardiff on Sept 11th weekend, for the first time in AGES, all to teach Elite for the first time in the UK. And then, an in person DOUBLE-weekend full monty version of the Fiqh of Death in London iA on Dec 4th-6th and 12th-13th. Bro, mad ones. You heard it here first, you won't find anything on the site officially but considering I'm the miskeen teaching them, I think I have a good idea of what I'll be doing lol. You guys get first dibs before it goes public whenever it does. 😎 ▪️the final thing for now is that the Off-Season September 'Umrah program for students and folks on a budget and folks not restricted to school holidays, is locked in for September 24th. The price is excellent, the weather is excellent, the lack of crowds is excellent, it's just the best program of the year man. Anyway if you can get the time off, take advantage cos' the remaining programs in Nov Thanksgiving and Dec Xmas Holidays are bare monies due to being peak holiday season. You have been warned. Yalla everyone, that means the Yanks who definitely can come over the border to Canada at some point, and then those in the smaller cities of the UK too later in the year, see you sometime somewhere this year in person soon no doubt! 😍 AE7,06%
- 9 мар.Assalamu 'alaykum everyone! So in the last week, the most common relevant issues that folks have been approaching me with are the three below, and I thought I'd write a few words on them. As everyone locks in to their Deen for these last ten auspicious nights, there is a particular responsibility on practising Muslims, experienced Muslims and students of knowledge to ensure they remain educated and educate others as well to protect key aspects of our deen and identity. So let me say: 1. The current situation in the Middle East However all that mess is being sold to you, have no doubt there is only one side you should be supporting. Israel has not attacked Iran directly and false-flagging in the Gulf left right and centre, because of any other reason except that Islam is a threat to them. Our support remains with the Muslims. Iranians are Muslims. The fact that the majority of them belong to the Shi'ah sect, doesn't make them non-Muslim. As for their leaders and scholars then that's a different story. Your heart should ache and your du'as should flow for all the believers that are being killed in the region, whether Shi'i in Lebanon and Iran, or the Sunnis in the same regions and the Gulf in the wider fitnah. This is not the time to remind everyone what a criminal entity Iran is and their crimes, recent and historical. Now is the time to stand on the right side of Deen and history. And you should ensure that no deviation in their 'Aqidah justifies any of Israel's or the USA's aims. Please educate those who can't get their heads around 'Aqidah 101. 2. My current Zakat recommendations Every year, we get the same drama. Someone, somewhere, is trying to justify using Zakat for some unacceptable reason. I have covered this issue in so much detail over the years that nobody needs any more info on this. But you still have to stay alert, because there will always be a new fatwa or three (the American Fiqh Council and their political use one, for example) and there will always be a new charity initiative that tries it too. This year's bakrah was IFG's "Zakat Fund" where the usual mistakes were made. And they are mistakes. Nothing more. Ignore all the Youtubers and click-bait Muslims who desperately pray for these moments so they can market "refutation" and "defending the Deen" content and build their brands. This was not wilful evil or whatever from our brothers. And as expected from IFG, they swiftly fixed the problem alhamdulillah.5,34%
- 11 авг.Assalamu alaykum everyone, It’s that time of the year again when we start the revision sessions in preparation for the end of year examination insha’Allah. The first revision session kicks off tomorrow at the later time after salatul al-Maghib at 9pm (UK time) as there will be a solar eclipse taking place. This will be very visible in the UK as well as some other counties in Europe, putting theory into practice on what we have learnt this year 😃. The LP revision sessions for academic year 14 will take place as follows: Session 1 - 12/8/26 at 9pm (UK time) covering the chapter of the ‘Eid Prayer - lessons 1-15 (Br Zafar). Class notes here. Session 2 - 19/8/26 at 7pm (UK time) covering the chapter of the Eclipse Prayer - lessons 16-21 (Br Rayhaan). Class notes here. Session 3 - 26/8/26 at 7pm (UK time) covering the chapter of the Rain Prayer - lessons 22-30 (Br Hamzah). Class notes here. Revision slides for the first lesson can be downloaded here: The Academic Year 14 exam will be on the last weekend of August (29th and 30th) on the portal here: (logicalprogression.org) Academic Year 15 will restart on Wednesday 2nd September 2026 insha’Allah with the new subject - the Book of Funerals. This is an important topic so please encourage both new and old students to attend, remember its never to late to start!! A reminder that the end of year exam is not meant to scare anyone away but rather help students determine how well they have retained material covered in class and where they may need to put more effort in. May Allah make it easy and increase us in knowledge - Ameen. Jezakumallahu Khayran Shazad4,34%
- 9 мар.I don't want to sound like a broken record but this whole thing really is a bigger problem where all of us are to blame: we don't give enough sadaqah, we want our Zakat to cover all our charitable objectives, we only give Zakat in Ramadhan so no funds available for the rest of the year's needs, charities have become major employers for Muslims who think they're doing God's work and so need more funds than ever, we hate funding the important behind the scenes work or infrastructure or development work, we want babies being blown up first before we get emotionally activated to donate, we want a show and dinner first before we donate to anything else, charities have to come up with more unique ideas and the like to attract your attention with an increasingly crowded market, their overheads have got way out of control and thus the extra money brings the usual fitnah to the fore as well, scholars give fatwas not realising how they will be appropriated, speakers/influencers don't get paid enough as Imams and don't have professional jobs and so depend on income from fundraisers for these charities and have actually got drunk on it, conferences aren't being sponsored enough by businesses and therefore force themselves to take funding from charities which makes them more powerful, charity bosses think they are the most revolutionary intellectuals in Islam to have ever lived and that Zakat can save humanity and reform Islam all at the same time whilst the rest of the scholars are all just a bunch of kabaabs who know nothing and so on and on and on. Nothing new here. Genuinely same old same old. But the key? ALL of us are to blame for this perfect storm of a mess: us the public, the scholars, the speakers/influencers, the charities, and indeed the environments we operate in. So when folks ask "What is your recommended charity for Zakat?" I cannot give an answer and neither is it possible to do so. Just be careful and do your own research each time and keep applying the taught principles you have studied in classes before, and BE THE CHANGE yourself! How? Change your Zakat date. Be brave and give in Rabee' al-Awwal. In Muharram. Whenever. Stick to that every year. And leave Ramadhan to super boost what it should be boosting: your sadaqah! How? Stop giving to most of these mainstream charities who have crimes and ignorance piling up beyond belief, until you vet them and their finances and practices and their scholars in detail. Zakat is no joke. It obligates this upon you. The miskeen outside the Masjid collecting your Zakah/Sadaqah/Lillah and then processes them all as a single payment on his card machine with no ring fencing whatsoever, doesn't have a scooby doo what's going on and neither does his boss or his leaders and neither do they care. As long as some random fatwa is there in theory, and they can make a humanitarian argument, they think it's all good. Hey, it might be! But be weary, this is a tainted horrible field and they have only brought it upon themselves. How? Stop only giving sadaqah in Ramadhan. Give every week and give more of it. Virtually everyone reading this message lives a life of privilege in a 1st World country. Literally your ONLY test that you have, compared to the believers everywhere else in the world, is how much sadaqah do you give! And yes support all those mainstream charities above with Sadaqah too. We don't hate these charities, this isn't personal! But we won't play around with what Allah doesn't play around: Zakat.4,23%
- 11 февр.Assalamu ‘alaykum everyone! 😊 Just like my usual opening line when I send out these updates, it’s been ages! In fact, I can’t even remember the last one I sent! Anyway, there’s quite a few things on the horizon as well as other unfinished business so let’s get through as much as I can: ▪️ tonight is our last LP lesson before Ramadhan, may Allah accept it from all those who make it possible! And for those who have been off the scene for a while, we’ve just started the Rain Prayer which is the very last part of the Book of Prayer, and we fully intend to finish it this academic year iA! 🤲🏽 Therefore, note that we will be returning for 5 extra sessions, starting on the 25th March 2026 after Maghrib in Cheadle Masjid, and then will continue home and away until the 29th of April iA! Likewise, QP will return on the 24th March as well alhamdulillah. ▪️ I hope you folks have been taking advantage of the updates to the PG app on Apple and Android with all its added functionality mA. But I just wanted to tell you we have an Eid gift for y’all being prepared iA, something a little bit extra and something frankly overdue! Stay tuned! 😄 ▪️ the new Hajj booking process is so entirely consuming that it can sometimes seem that we do nothing else during this period, but alhamdulillah that’s pretty much over now and so we can get back to normality! With that said, let’s kick things off with our annual LP Q&A session on our Telegram Chat, focusing on Zakat, but we can make it general too. Let’s lock it in: Sunday 22nd February at 3pm UK time on Telegram! ▪️ the next thing is our family ‘Umrah Tarbiyyah program for Easter on April 2nd! Beautiful time of the year, a great chance for you to put the school/Easter holidays to an actual blessed use, as opposed to kufr back here and more miserable showers. 😬 I’ll be there sunning it up with my family too, and yes this is our last gig of the year at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Makkah which means ice-cream for breakfast again! 🤪 See hajjwithae.com/umrah to register, but also hurry up with that cos’ flights are rapidly rising in price! And we’re starting the program this weekend online as well so don’t delay. ▪️ there will also be the off-season special, my favourite time tbh, at the end of September, and then the usual December holidays program too, keep an eye on those too on the same link above. ▪️ the big news I feel will be our return for the Aqsa program on Sept 17th iA, as well as the ultimate experience that is the 3 Sacred Cities Program at the same time. If you can afford the time off, then this will be the best thing we ever do together. For now, it’s all about registering for the program nothing else. Flights will have to be done later when all the options become available in the Summer probably, not now. See here to register for Aqsa and here to register for 3 Sacred Cities. ▪️ one thing I nearly forgot is Sh Ahsan’s awesome Qur’an memorization program. Give your excuses and lameness the biggest of black eyes and get registering right for two programs that will help you immensely, at a level that you can keep up with: visit https://hifdhpro.com to join for free and more information. ▪️ I will be returning for some of that good stuff with AlMaghrib this year iA, starting with the double-weekend intensive on the Fiqh of Salah - Divine Link to MANCHESTER 🤩 which I have now moved to very likely June 5th and 12th weekends and that news is so hot off the press that it’s not even on the AlMaghrib site yet and it won’t be either. Just act surprised when they make you guess for it in their April 25th Class with Ust Zohair. 🙈 Also hot news is ART for the last time in the UK, this time July 3rd weekend in Brum. Yes, BRUM. Nothing more needed to be said there, everyone's chill class and a buzz for me too. ▪️ we will be taking 2026 off with respect to the PG Retreat as you might have noticed, but keep an eye on 2027 where we hope to come back bigger and better iA!3,65%
- 11 февр.Alright, that’s all I can think of for now folks! All the very very best for Ramadhan, don’t take it for granted and do yourselves proud therein! 👊🏼 Dependent as always on your du‘as, AE3,37%
