I recently visited a public hospital here in Krakow and was amazed by its size, quality, and cleanliness. As I was leaving, I saw a sign at the entrance showing the cost of the hospital: 1,200,000,000 zloty, equivalent to around $300,000,000. Meanwhile, investments in AI are estimated to total $3–5 trillion across the industry. Just imagine how much could have been built for the public good instead of investing in AI! This one hospital accounts for just 0.010% of AI spending. On other other hand, it would great if AI accelerates scientific research and help us to find cures for illnesses that we can't currently treat. Things change quickly! #topofmyhead
