AIAC is an independent, non-governmental and non-profit arbitral institution based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, providing commercial alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services including arbitration, mediation and adjudication, at both the domestic and international levels. During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on recent developments in ADR in Cambodia and Malaysia. Discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation, including the cross-promotion of the NCAC and AIAC arbitration and mediation rules within their respective jurisdictions, with the aim of enhancing awareness and encouraging greater use of institutional ADR services. Both sides also explored opportunities for future collaboration in capacity building, including specialised training programmes, and began discussions on the possible preparation of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two institutions. Both institutions reaffirmed the importance of knowledge sharing and professional development in strengthening ADR frameworks and supporting the continued growth of dispute resolution practice in the region. Abang & Co is a Kuala Lumpur-based boutique law firm specialising in dispute resolution, particularly in the construction, infrastructure, renewable energy, and technology sectors. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Wilson Ho Sheen Lik, a Partner of HO PARTNERSHIP & NEOH, and Mr. Vinayak Sri Ram, a Partner of ROSLI DAHLAN SARAVANA PARTNERSHIP (RDS). Mr. Abang Iwawan and his colleagues expressed their interest in the activities and roles of the NCAC in resolving commercial disputes in Cambodia through arbitration and mediation, training courses for arbitrators and mediators, membership of the NCAC, and future cooperation with the NCAC. As Chairperson of the Arbitration and Construction Law Committee of the Malaysian Bar, Mr. Abang Iwawan also expressed his interest in acting as an intermediary in discussions on the possibility of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on cooperation in the field of arbitration between the NCAC and the Malaysian Bar in the future. During the meeting, NCAC shared an overview of its institutional services, highlighting its panel of arbitrators with diverse sector expertise, and NCAC's commitment to party autonomy, which allows parties to select governing law from any jurisdiction for their dispute resolution.
