NOUN Learning System: A Guide for Freshers If you’re new to NOUN, it’s important to understand that the university does not offer physical lectures. Learning is primarily conducted online. *How Does NOUN Teach Its Students?* NOUN provides online lectures known as facilitation. These sessions are held at scheduled times via Zoom, allowing students to interact with lecturers. Please note that: • Not all courses have facilitation • Facilitation follows the official academic schedule for each semester 📅 Facilitation for this semester has already commenced. *What You Should Do Now* Now that facilitation has started: • Check the timetable for your course schedule by visiting the official facilitation website: facilitation.nou.edu.ng • No login is required — simply open the site and search for your registered courses • The time, date, and facilitator details will be displayed • If a course does not appear, it means there is no facilitation for that course • Join your classes via the E-learning portal • Regularly check your student email for Zoom links and important updates • Don’t delay — start attending your sessions immediately *Important Reminder* Since facilitation does not cover all courses, students are strongly advised to study independently alongside attending classes. Stay consistent, stay disciplined, and make the most of this semester. 📌 For any further assistance/support, feel free to DM any of the Channel Admin. We’re always available to help with any NOUN-related inquiries. Thank you.

*What's DES303?* DES303 is a course on Community Development. In simple terms, it teaches you how to identify problems in a community and work together to solve them in a way that improves people's lives. What is a community? A community is simply a group of people living in the same area or people who have something in common. Examples include a village, a school, a market, an orphanage, a church, or even a group of people with disabilities. What is community development? Community development means improving people's lives by identifying their needs and working together to solve their problems. It is not just about giving out money or gifts; it is about creating lasting solutions that benefit the community. What will you learn in DES303? You will learn how to: • Identify problems in a community. • Understand the causes of those problems. • Plan a project that addresses the problems. • Work effectively as a team. • Carry out a community development project. • Evaluate whether your project made a positive impact. Why are we visiting a community? The practical aspect of DES303 requires students to carry out a Community Development Project. This means choosing a community or organization, identifying a need, and carrying out an activity that will positively impact the people there. Examples of community development projects include: • Visiting an orphanage to donate food items or educational materials. • Organizing a health awareness campaign. • Cleaning a public environment. • Donating books to a school. • Teaching students about career opportunities. • Planting trees. • Empowering people with useful skills. What does the lecturer expect from you? Your lecturer expects you to: • Participate actively in planning the project. • Work together • Contribute financially • Attend the visitation. • Take pictures and videos as evidence. • Help prepare the final report of the project. How will you be graded? Your DES303 grade depends on the successful upload of the three required documents: • Proposal – Your project plan. • Logbook – A record of your activities and participation. • Report – A summary of the completed project and its impact.
