🕷️ Looking sharp!  The Long-spined Spider (Macracantha arcuata) is instantly recognisable by its striking black-and-white body and long, curved spines.   In Singapore, it is most commonly seen in primary rainforests such as Bukit Timah Nature Reserve and the Central Catchment Nature Reserve.  Listed as Vulnerable in the Singapore Red Data Book, this remarkable spider is a spectacular sight for those lucky enough to spot one.

Not all crowns are made of gold! 🦜  The Blue-crowned Hanging Parrot (Loriculus galgulus) may be just 14cm long, but the male's brilliant blue crown makes it stand out in our forest canopies.   This bird has adapted to our urban landscape. While it can be tricky to spot, you may hear its calls as it flies overhead.   Keep an eye and an ear out for our smallest native parrot the next time you are outdoors!
