Russia has stepped up large-scale hybrid and disinformation campaigns in Germany ahead of state elections. The operation, known as "Matryoshka," after the Russian nesting doll, or "Operation Overload," aims to discredit democratic politicians, undermine trust in elections, and strengthen pro-Russian forces. According to Reuters, German security services say Russian information attacks primarily target political opponents of the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD). Russian-linked resources seek to discredit members of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), its coalition partner, the Social Democratic Party (SPD), as well as the Greens and the Free Democratic Party (FDP). To do this, the campaign uses a network of fake accounts and clone websites. Russian-linked resources mostly spread English-language videos on social media using fake logos of major international media outlets, including the BBC, ARD, and DW. The videos make fabricated allegations against local politicians. The fake reports are also being used to deepen divisions between eastern and western Germany. German authorities believe the campaigns are being centrally orchestrated from Russia using a number of companies. 📹: DW

Auhorities of Egypt's El Daaba nuclear power plant accused Russian Rosatom of serious violations and negligence in the construction of the plant - Politico. Defects were found in the foundations of three reactor units, and it took Rosatom a year to fix them. Voids and other defects were also found in the structure of another reactor unit. Russian workers involved into the plant's construction were accused of carrying out sham work that would create the appearance that more work has been completed than they actually carried out. Rosatom employees on site were also accused of possessing prohibited alcoholic beverages, forging passes and impersonating other people to gain unauthorized access and concealing an injury incident by taking an injured worker in a private vehicle instead of calling an ambulance. The plant was supposed to generate its first electricity in 2028, and all four reactors were supposed to be operational by 2030. However, even Rosatom's internal audit revealed that these deadlines will not be met. Now, the first reactor is supposed to be completed somewhere between September 2028 and March 2030. The scandal in Egypt could also affect the situation in Hungary, where authorities have launched an investigation into the Paks II nuclear power plant project, which is also being built by Rosatom.

Russia has "no money for sick children, but always enough for missiles aimed at Kyiv." Six Iskanders and a hundred Shahed drones launched by Russia at the Ukrainian capital cost nearly 1.7 billion rubles, a Russian woman who left Moscow during the war calculated. That money could have saved dozens of critically ill children. Instead, it's spent on Putin's ambitions and murder in Ukraine. 📹: dushnistoemylo/Threads

Russian economist Andrey Klepach was fired after predicting a social crisis and Russia's loss in "war of attrition" with the West. Klepach served as VEB's chief economist for 12 years and previously held the position of Deputy Minister of Economic Development from 2008 to 2014. Russian state development bank VEB. RF (Vnesheconombank) - Russia's primary state-owned financial institution responsible for funding major national development, infrastructure and industrial projects. Klepach made a presentation titled "Russia's Economy and Geopolitical Challenges," delivered on May 21 at a meeting of the Nikitsky Club. Key statements from his speech include: ▪️"After record growth rates in 2023–2024, the Russian economy slowed in 2025 and, judging by expectations, will fall this year below the growth rates of the US and Ukraine - with whom we are engaged in a military-political confrontation." ▪️"We are losing both the technological and economic competition in the world. Moreover, we are losing it not only to China and the US, but in some respects even to Ukraine, however unpleasant that may be for me personally to admit." ▪️"We will not win the competition in this war of attrition. We harbor an illusion that everything over there will collapse. It hasn't collapsed, and it won't. Meanwhile, our own costs are mounting. According to public surveys, the healthcare situation is deteriorating. Our scientific and technological sector is highly uneven - we have breakthroughs in certain areas, but overall, in my view, we are losing the competition, not winning it." ▪️"The economy will endure, but a social crisis may emerge - and precisely when no one particularly expects it. I would remind you that no one expected the February Revolution either." ▪️"I believe Russia will not fall apart, but I am almost certain we will reach a social crisis. We won't collapse economically, but our lag will continue to grow with all the ensuing consequences."

Russia has built 10 bases with newly built launch pads for its most advanced long-range drones, the Telegraph reported. Its investigation revealed that some of them are already used to target Ukraine. At the same time, they also offer a long-term threat to NATO allies - European and US intelligence officials believe Russia is considering an armed provocation on Polish soil, missile or drone attacks against critical infrastructure, or false-flag attacks blamed on Ukraine. Using satellite images, journalists and military analysts identified at least 59 new launch rails - mechanical guide tracks used in the takeoff of fixed-wing drones instead of a traditional runway - along Russia’s border with Belarus and Ukraine. At a number of key sites, further launch rails are under construction. Imagery analysed by DroneSec, a drone intelligence firm, found that about 20 of the newly fitted rails appeared to be of an extended length, indicating their ability to launch the Kremlin’s latest Geran-4 and Geran-5 long-range attack drones, which can carry a 90 kg payload.

Two Ukrainian Warriors defended their position just 30 meters from Russian forces for more than five months. They took up the position in February. The relative calm lasted only a month; for the rest of the time, Russians regularly assaulted their dugout. One of the Defenders celebrated his 50th birthday on the front line. Russian soldiers who tried to break into their dugout were eliminated. Both Warriors have now left the position and are preparing for medical treatment and seeing their families. 📹: 31st Mechanized Brigade

Ukrainian drone units are sharing their experience with the U.S. military, helping them master modern drone warfare tactics. ▪️ The Wall Street Journal reported on the Combined Resolve exercises held in Germany this spring. The goal was to simulate realistic combat conditions, testing the ability to defend against drones and deploy them in offensive operations. During the drills, Ukrainian drone operators successfully spotted and "defeated" U.S. troops and armored vehicles. ▪️ According to the scenario, a U.S. armored brigade advanced against an "adversary" while equipped with standard electronic warfare and counter-drone systems. According to WSJ sources, the opposing team included Ukrainian drone pilots from the 412th Nemesis Unmanned Systems Brigade, alongside other units. ▪️ During the "offensive," heavy U.S. armored vehicles kicked up dust, making them easy for reconnaissance drones to spot. Ukrainian drone operators then "struck" them using drop-munitions and FPV kamikaze drones. No live munitions were used; an attack was counted as successful if a drone maneuvered directly to the target. As a result, the advancing group was "destroyed" so quickly that the "defeated" forces had to be sent back onto the field as reinforcements to keep the exercise going. ▪️ This scenario was repeated over the course of two weeks. U.S. forces adapted, improving their dispersal, concealment, and EW deployment. Midway through the exercise, the Ukrainian operators joined the U.S. side to demonstrate how unmanned technologies can be effectively integrated into offensive operations. 📹: Yurii Fedorenko, commander of the Achilles Brigade, explains why it is crucial for the Ukrainian military to participate in such exercises and share their experience with allies. / Teper Holovne / Espreso TV

Following the intensification of Ukrainian attacks on Moscow and St. Petersburg, Putin has relocated the center of his activity and moved into a bunker beyond the Urals: his whereabouts are increasingly shifting toward Siberia and the Russian Far East. Will he eventually relocate the capital to Siberia as well? Dugin has long spoken about this, and it was discussed at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, precisely when Ukraine's Defense Forces attacked an oil terminal nearby.

  • Ukrainian Defender Vladyslav Polskyi, commander of the 1st Assault Company, 1st Assault Battalion, saved his wounded brothers-in-arms. According to "Flint," commander of the 475th Separate Assault Regiment (CODE 9.2), they were monitoring an unmanned ground vehicle evacuating two wounded Defenders when a Russian FPV drone approached and attacked them again. Watching the situation unfold, Vladyslav rushed to save his brothers-in-arms without waiting for orders. He ran out of the command post and jumped into an unarmored vehicle, and everyone "could already see him on the Mavic screen driving to rescue the guys." Both Warriors sustained open leg fractures. If Vladyslav had not arrived, they would have died within 10 to 15 minutes, as a second drone would have targeted and killed both of the wounded.
