The bar chart shows the gender composition of people who got higher education in five different countries in the year 2001. Overall, a higher percentage of women had a university diploma in the USA and Germany while the reverse was true for the remaining three countries. Notably, the gender gap was more pronounced in Switzerland and Germany, where either males and females outnumbered one another by a significant margin, respectively. Of all five nations, it was Switzerland where the greatest proportion of men decided to receive a higher education qualification at 45%. Three nations — the USA, Britain and Germany — followed at a close second, each accounting for 35%. Japan, however, showed the lowest male representation, with merely 30% of men being a university graduate. The figures for women, on the other hand, were significantly varied among these countries, with Germany making up the highest shares (45%). The USA came next, with its 40% of females having some sort of diploma and thus being the second country where women dominated in this respect. Meanwhile, 35% of female population in Switzerland was qualified, the figure which was slightly higher than that of Britain (30%). The table shows the percentages of students who majored in six different disciplines at a particular university in Australia in the year 2011. Overall, students who studied in the departments of humanities and education were predominantly female and native English speakers while the reverse was true for IT and engineering, with relatively fewer students speaking English as their first language. The other two academic disciplines were almost equally favored by both genders. Around 70% of students majoring in humanities and education were women, making it mainly a male domain. Interestingly, the percentages of those who did not speak English as their native language were 12% and 16% respectively. Moreover, the majority of these students were born in Australia, accounting for nearly 80%. Focusing on the departments of science and physics, these subjects were evenly preferred by both groups -- men and women, with the latter representing slightly higher figures. While 45% of science students were non-native English speakers, the figure for physics students was a little smaller at 38. By contrast, there was a large gap between the figures in terms of being born outside Australia, with physics students accounting for 56% and science students making up merely 31%. The remaining two areas -- IT and engineering -- were commonly chosen by men, with under 20% of students studying these subjects each. Meanwhile, almost half of the students who opted for these two majors were native in the English language and born in Australia.

Although it may have some level of positive impact on people living in cities, I assume that there are more essential areas for authorities to focus on. It is true that constructing facilities where art works are exhibited could be beneficial for urban population. City dwellers tend to lead a busy, stressful life given the competitive nature of urban environment. Visiting art galleries or museums could help such individuals relieve this accumulated stress by offering a nice escape from their hectic lifestyle, serving the same function as recreational parks and attractions. This may, in turn, lead to the improvement of the overall well-being of urban population, making the idea of introducing more artworks valid. However, I believe that some other sectors, such as education, play a far greater role in the prosperity of a nation, particularly emerging ones. To begin with, education is the foundation of any developed society, which means that instead of spending money on art works, it is a more logical decision to build more educational facilities, fill them with modern technologies or offer financial incentives to dedicated teachers and their students, all of which would make a positive contribution to education. In conclusion, while investment in artworks in urban places appears to be a good idea, it would be more sensible to shift the focus to more significant areas such as the education system. 253 words
