Swift Backup v5.1.0 is now live on Google Play.
Swift Backup v5.1.0 - Full changelog: Android 17 Support - Swift Backup now targets Android 17. - Local network access: Added support for Android 17's Local network permission so LAN/self-hosted backups continue to work with local servers via SMB, SFTP, FTP, WebDAV, etc. New: Folder Backups - Back up important folders to device storage or supported cloud services. - Single or Incremental Backup: Keep one up-to-date backup or save only files changed since the previous backup. - Restore folders to their original location or choose a custom restore location. New Backup Format - The new backup format improves backup and restore speed, provides smoother progress updates, and better handles complex Android app data used by apps like Termux and Android Virtualization Terminal. - Lower storage requirement: Each backup part now needs only enough free space for that part; previous versions needed at least twice as much. - Important: Backups created with v5.1.0 cannot be restored using older Swift Backup versions. Please update Swift Backup before restoring these backups on another device. - Existing backups created by older Swift Backup versions can still be restored in v5.1.0. App Backups - Notification channels: Added backup and restore support for notification channel settings. - App permissions: Backed-up permission choices now preserve both allowed and denied permissions. - Play Store compatibility: Apps restored by Swift Backup no longer complain that they must be installed from Google Play. - Performance: App backups and restores are now faster and show better task progress with the new backup format. - Backup details: Added a new view in the app detail screen under the backup’s 3-dot menu. - APK sharing: Export and import APKs from installed apps and app backups, including split APK sets, through Android’s share menu. - Installed apps visibility: Improved handling on Xiaomi/HyperOS, OPPO/ColorOS, and other devices that require a separate installed apps permission, with new diagnostics in Settings > Swift Labs. - In-place downgrades: Added optional support for compatible ROMs or modules such as CorePatch. Configure this in Settings > Apps > App data. WiFi - Shizuku support: You can now back up and restore WiFi networks on Android 11+. Cloud - Filen cloud support. - Mega now uses Swift Backup’s lighter built-in implementation instead of the large Mega SDK, reducing app size while keeping Mega backup and restore support. - Added Cloud diagnostics to help identify cloud connection and transfer issues. - Added local server discovery for supported self-hosted and LAN cloud services. - Improved cloud setup with branded S3-compatible and WebDAV presets. - Improved reliability for Google Drive, Dropbox, Box, Yandex.Disk, WebDAV (including 123pan), FTP/FTPS, OneDrive, and Mega. - Improved transfer progress, resume, and cancellation behavior. Schedules - Reorder schedules or run them manually even when they are turned off. - Improved handling when Android applies background time limits to backup and restore services. Swift Backup v5.1.0 (Google Play Release): Swift Backup 5.1 introduces folder backups, a faster and more space-efficient backup format, Android 17 support, Filen cloud storage, and major improvements across app, cloud, WiFi, and scheduled backups. Full changelog in the next message.
