This photo really demonstrates the trick he played over his career. He manufactured a 'modern star trek alien' look, as we can see here with his 'brain canopy' hair-formation. Combined with the distracting gleaming of his vaselined forehead and the unblinking homo-gaze (suggesting 'we mean you no harm') there is a feeling of 'I am not just a signalling token but a celestial eunuch here to forgive your sins'.
