For the Aug 15 2026 - Sep 14 2026 pumping cycle, EPRA has slashed the price of diesel by KES 5.00 per litre to KES 217.86, while maintaining prices of Petrol and Kerosene at KES 214.03 and 191.38, respectively. The prices factor in KES 938M stabilization from the government.
In this week’s Treasury Bills auction, the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) received KES 40.79 billion in bids against an offer of KES 28.00 billion, translating to an overall subscription rate of 145.68%. The 91-day paper recorded the strongest demand with a subscription rate of 227.95%, followed by the 364-day paper at 135.61%, while the 182-day paper recorded a subscription rate of 89.93%. The CBK accepted KES 37.02 billion.
Co-operative Bank of Kenya (NSE: COOP, +56.2% YTD) closed H1 2026 with KES 869.5B in assets, up 7.1% relative to H1 2025. Deposits expanded 13.4% to KES 621.3B, with the loan book growing by 18% to KES 462.2B (Loan:Deposit Ratio = 74.4%, H1 2025: 71.4%). Operating income edged higher by 12.5% to KES 48.9B, with pre-tax profits at KES 23.1B, up 17.3%. Net income for the period was KES 18B, up 28%, with EPS at KES 3.08, up 27.8%.

The CBK’s re-opened Infrastructure Bonds auction attracted KES 460.40B in bids against an offer of KES 150B, representing a 307% performance rate. CBK accepted KES 312.03B, with the auction recording a 1.48x bid-to-cover ratio. Weighted average yields stood at 12.20% for the 16-year, 12.69% for the 18-year and 13.05% for the 21-year bond.

The Central Bank of Kenya kept the CBR unchanged at 8.75% in its sitting on 11 Aug 2026 to anchor inflation expectations within the target range and ensure exchange rate stability. Key highlights: —Gross NPLs to Gross Loans in Kenya'a banking sector stood at 14.6% in July 2026, down from 15.4% in April 2026 and 17.6% in August 2025. —Growth in commercial bank lending to the private sector remained strong at 10.2% in July 2026 as compared to 2.9% in January 2026. —Current account deficit expected to be 3.0% of GDP In 12 months to June 2026 as compared to 1.5% in similar period in 2025 due to higher trade deficit and lower secondary income transfers as a share of GDP.
The Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Kenya is expected to hold a sitting today in which it will determine the direction of the Central Bank Rate (CBR). Currently, the CBR is 8.75%, and the Kenya Bankers Association has called for the MPC to hold the policy rate.

Stanbic Bank Kenya PMI for July 2026 was 51.3 from 50.0 (neutral) recorded in June 2026. 1. The private sector returned to growth in July after 4 months of stagnation/decline. 2. The expansion was underpinned by the strongest increase in new orders since January 2026.
Across the Treasury Bills auction in Week 32 of 52 (2026), bids submitted totaled KES 29.9B from an offer of KES 28B. Heavy demand was registered on the 91-Days paper, with KES 13.6B bids submitted against an ask of KES 8B. The 364-Days paper recorded KES 6.2B in received bids from an offer of KES 10B. The CBK accepted KES 28.5B from this operation, with yields declining across the board.
In Week 32 of 52 (2026), Investment firm Home Afrika appreciated by 15.24%, closing as the top gainer at the Nairobi Securities Exchange. Automobiles firm Car & General led losers, shedding 23.80% to KES 119.25.
