What is Green India Mission?👇 The Green India Mission (GIM) is a flagship national program launched in 2014 by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change under India's National Action Plan on Climate Change. It aims to protect, restore, and enhance forest cover, improve ecosystem services, and safeguard the livelihoods of forest-dependent communities. It is one of the eight Missions under the National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC) What is NAPCC ? The Government of India launched National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC) on 30thJune, 2008 to address the Climate change and sustainable development. It has eight National Missions on climate change. These include: National Solar Mission National Mission for Enhanced Energy Efficiency National Mission on Sustainable Habitat National Water Mission National Mission for Sustaining the Himalayan Eco-system National Mission for a Green India National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture National Mission on Strategic Knowledge for Climate Change NAPCC aims at creating awareness among the representatives of the public, different agencies of the government, scientists, industry and the communities on the threat posed by climate change and the steps to counter it. It helps India in meetings it's commitment under Paris agreement for climate change.
