Task 2 It is not uncommon for elementary school pupils to be overly engaged in formal education. I fully concur with this idea; however, I do believe that incorporating some play time is of equal importance. Too much attention is placed on strict academic learning at primary schools as it guarantees tangible results in their overall performance. When young students are immersed in learning school subjects without distractions, they are highly likely to become proficient in those subjects at an early stage. This also leads to some level of exposure to more complex subjects that come up later on their academic syllabus when they move on to higher grades. China happens to be one of the countries that heavily relies on formal education at a primary level which duly yields desired outcomes. Such concentration on formal education must be implemented in other countries as well to accomplish academic milestones set out for primary level students. Despite all of that, the integration of fun into the school curriculum may also prove to be highly effective as it takes the mental pressure off of students. As has been observed on many occasions, excessive amount of official learning can predispose young students to burnout and mental exhaustion. Without any element of play in their learning process, elementary students may easily become disoriented, demotivated and mentally overburdened. Primary schools in Uzbekistan have recently introduced leisure activities to consciously create a stress-free environment where students can release academic tension by engaging in them. By doing so, they have enabled young learners to balance fun with academics and reach their full potential. Alright, good people! I have put together 5 key takeaways from Mr Tim's (former IDP speaking examiner) seminar specifically designed to help teachers reach their full potential. The seminar was full of invaluable insights, workable strategies and eye-opening truths. So here is the breakdown of those 5 ways to get to 8.0+ in speaking: 1. Natural Speech. Always aim for natural flow of speech without trying to force certain words, grammar structures and collocations. Just speak your mind. Don't be afraid to use simple words or grammar where necessary. Remember! You are aiming for clarity, fluency and clear speech. 2. Show off your grammar & vocabulary. Mr Tim believes you've got to demonstrate strong grammar and rich vocabulary as long as they are used naturally, contextually and appropriately. Meaning you have to try to vary your grammar structures using Passive Voice, Conditionals, Relative Clauses and many more, but naturally and accurately. Plus, you must be able to showcase your lexical reserve by carefully and properly choosing your words. They must, of course, relate to the given topic. 3. Unique ideas. This one was really interesting. During speaking, please try to come up with unique and different ideas. Do not go with traditional cliche ideas that almost every Uzbek candidate speaks about. Like for your favorite color choose beige or maroon, for your favorite sport go for arm wrestling or juijitsu. You get the picture, right? Be unique! Don't just blindly follow the crowd! 4. Natural collocations. Alright, I think this one is the game changer. Your natural choice of collocations while speaking really stands out and makes you a high level candidate, for sure. Don't look for collocations you have learnt from books, instead try to naturally create your own while speaking. Just put together two or three phrases and try to see if they make sense when combined. A few examples could be traffic related issues, renewable energy sources, lifelong learning, cutting-edge technology, etc. 5. Your mistakes do count. The more mistakes you make, the lower your speaking mark will be. If you make two mistakes, forget about 9.0. You make four mistakes, forget about 8.5. You make 6 mistakes, forget about 8.0. You know what I mean? So every time you make a mistake, you are messing up your chances of getting a desired 8+ band score. Disclaimer: All the main ideas came from Mr Tim. So guys, I wrote this Task 1 for my IELTS students during our usual writing sessions. And this is what I came up with. Give it a read and let me know what you guys think. Thanks. Task 1 (Mixed/ Cam 21 Test 4) The given pie chart and the table provide information regarding the types of library users and their overall satisfaction rates as demonstrated by the questionnaire. Overall, full-time undergraduate and postgraduate student population comprised the majority of active library users. And a significant proportion of those library members were generally satisfied with library facilities and services. In detail, the largest proportion of library users at a university was registered by full-time bachelors’ level students with a considerable 44% share. Following behind with a notable difference (19%), full-time postgraduate students made up precisely a quarter. Among those who frequented the library less often were part-time postgraduate students, online learners and academic personnel with 16%, 8% and 7%, respectively. In terms of satisfaction levels, a rather varied pattern was observed. Staff helpfulness registered the highest results with 95% of participants rating it as extremely satisfactory. Opening times also produced positive feedback with 65% saying they were very satisfied and 35% considering it as acceptable. As for the availability of print materials, poll participants shared quite similar opinions: a half of them were extremely pleased and 40% were fairly satisfied; for journals the percentages stood at 45% very contented and 35% fairly convinced. However, a combination of 30% of visitors were not happy with it. Lastly, less than half of library users responded very positively to the Internet connection question whereas a third of them gave it an average rating. Having played and watched football all my life, I couldn’t not share my thoughts on tonight’s World Cup final match between Argentina and Spain. Both teams have worked hard to get to where they are now. The Spaniards have been solid and menacing throughout the tournament. The likes of Rodri and Cucurella have impressed me the most with their consistency and resilience. Hope the entire Spanish squad show world-class football today. The Argentines, however, have been causing endless debates of unfair play and biased referees. But, I gotta be honest, if they managed to get this far, it only shows how strong, dedicated and phenomenal they are as a team. And I cannot stress enough how remarkable Lionel Messi has been with his maturity, leadership and pure class! We just wanna witness an incredible showdown by world’s top two teams! Vamonos!!! ⚽️💋🔵
