As Palestinians and Muslims around the world gather to celebrate Eid, Within Our Lifetime sends our love and solidarity to the families of the martyrs, the prisoners, the wounded, and the displaced, to every home carrying patience, sacrifice, and resistance. Eid Mubarak to our people in Palestine, Gaza, Al-Quds, the West Bank, the refugee camps, and across the diaspora… and to everyone who continues to carry Palestine in their hearts. To the mothers and fathers of the martyrs and prisoners, to those waiting for their reunion and freedom, and to everyone enduring pain, loss, and separation, may this Eid bring mercy, strength, and hope. And to all those standing against oppression and injustice across the region and beyond, may God protect you and grant dignity and victory to the oppressed. As we join Palestinians and Muslims around the world in celebrating Eid, we remain committed to the struggle for liberation, justice, and return. Eid Mubarak and free Palestine within our lifetime.

Since then, three of the five members of the HLF5 have been freed. Today Shukri Abu Baker and Ghassan Elashi remain in prison, serving 65 year sentences. Their crime? Feeding the children of Palestine. As our community comes together with loved ones to celebrate Eid, Shukri and Ghassan will spend another Eid separated from their families. The anniversary of the HLF5 sentencing is not just a moment to look back on the past, but to take action in the present and to let Shukri and Ghassan know that we have not forgotten them and that we continue to fight for them.
