June 22, 1941. Footage of various stages and moments of Operation Barbarossa, the largest land invasion in history, when Germany invaded the Soviet Union.

February 7, 1942. On this day the Battle of Moscow came to an end, representing the first German defeat in the conflict. In the image, you can see a liberated village near Mozhaisk, Soviet Union, where the first line of defense of the Soviet capital was established. Fellow soldiers, attached to a sled, transport the wounded to the medical center. Photo from the end of January 1942. The image shows soldiers in winter uniforms, some with white cloaks of camouflage and others with heavy coats, pulling a sled through the deep snow in a rural landscape covered with ice.
