Even though it was mainly behind the scenes, I still managed to release a lot of music that I’m proud of. But trust me, next year will be different. Today, we lost two giants in music, Gash Alemayehu Fanta and Seiki Kato. Two different worlds, two different instruments, but both left behind legacies that will never fade. Gash Alemayehu Fanta was more than a masinko player he was a guardian of Ethiopian traditional music, a master who carried the soul of our ancestors in his melodies. As our teacher, he shaped generations, keeping our musical heritage alive with passion and dedication. His wisdom, his artistry, and his influence will live on in every note played by those he inspired. Seiki Kato, president of Korg, was the visionary behind the Korg M1, one of the most iconic synthesizers ever made. In 1988, the M1 revolutionized music with its lush pads, deep basses, and the legendary “M1 Piano” sound shaping everything from house to pop to film scores. I own an M1, and to this day, I’m still blown away by its sound. Kato-san didn’t just create an instrument he helped shape the sound of a generation. Rest easy, masters. Your music lives on.
