We’ve added a few data points to market depth on Kite web that will be available during the CAS window to help you track the auction: - Reference price: The VWAP between 3:00 PM and 3:15 PM. This is the reference around which the closing auction is conducted. - Indicative close: The price at which the maximum quantity of buy and sell orders can currently be matched. This tells you where the stock may close if the auction were to end at that point. - Total imbalance quantity: Tells you how much buy or sell quantity remains unmatched at the current indicative equilibrium price. For indices, you can also see the indicative close, which gives you an estimate of where the index may close based on its constituent stocks. These data points will be available in the Kite app soon. A lot of our customers don't know that you can set up SIPs for stocks and ETFs, just like mutual funds. SIPs are probably the easiest way to bring some discipline to investing. We’ve had Stock SIPs on Kite for a while, but the process of setting one up could have been better. We've now introduced an all-new Stock SIP flow on Kite web. You can add stocks or ETFs while creating an SIP, choose between quantity-based and amount-based SIPs, and allocate the investment amount across multiple stocks or ETFs. For example, say you want to invest ₹10,000 every month in the Nifty TOP100CASE ETF. You can simply create an amount-based SIP for ₹10,000 and set the schedule. Or, if you want to invest across multiple stocks or ETFs, you can add them to the same SIP and decide how the ₹10,000 should be split between them. For amount-based SIPs, you can also automate funding using UPI Autopay. Coming to the Kite app soon. Tax filing is one of those things that gets surprisingly complicated once you start trading or investing across different segments. If you haven’t filed your return yet, the deadlines for FY 2025–26 are: • July 31, 2026, for ITR-1 and ITR-2 • August 31, 2026, for ITR-3 and ITR-4 cases that don’t require a tax audit • October 31, 2026, for cases that require a tax audit A large part of the difficulty is simply bringing all the information together, capital gains, trading P&L, dividends, interest income, turnover, charges, and so on. We’ve made a few improvements to the Tax P&L reports on Console this year to reduce some of this work. 1. The Trade-wise Entry/Exit and Equity sheets now classify investments as equity, non-equity, and debt ETFs. 2. Short-term and long-term gains for non-equity transactions are shown separately. 3. Dividend income now comes with a quarter-wise breakup, while interest received from debt securities is available in a dedicated Debt Interest Statement along with dividends. 4. You can also download quarterly Tax P&L reports based on advance-tax due dates. 5. The Tax P&L page now shows a summary of P&L from non-equity transactions. Hopefully, these changes make filing returns a little less painful. Read more: https://zerodha.com/z-connect/business-updates/tax-reports-to-simplify-filing-your-taxes

Markets are always changing. Some changes make headlines, most do not. Delta, a new Varsity newsletter, looks beyond the closing price to understand what is moving underneath. The word “Delta” appears in physics, mathematics, and options trading. It means different things in each, but the underlying idea is the same: change. At the end of every trading day, one number gets most of the attention: the close. Whether the market ended in the green or the red often becomes the entire story. But the close tells you only where the market ended. It does not tell you how many shares changed hands, how much went into delivery, where open interest was building, or which sectors were taking the lead. It does not explain how commodity prices are affecting industries, how options traders are positioned, or what bond yields and the rupee are signalling about the economy. All this information is public, but it is often scattered. Delta brings these signals together and helps explain what is changing in the markets and why it matters. With Delta, Varsity’s newsletters now cover four broad areas: - Delta: Trading and markets - Tell Me Why: The economy - Second Order: Personal finance - Side Notes: Business and financial strategies If you haven't yet checked out these newsletters: https://zerodhavarsity.substack.com/

Starting August 3, 2026, the way stock closing prices are calculated will change. SEBI is introducing a Closing Auction Session (CAS), starting with stocks that trade in the F&O segment. Instead of using the current VWAP-based method, buy and sell orders will be brought together in an auction to determine the official closing price. From August 3, these will be the market timings: - Stocks under CAS: Regular trading will end at 3:15 PM, followed by the Closing Auction Session until 3:35 PM. - Stocks not under CAS: Regular trading will continue until 3:30 PM. - Equity and index derivatives: Trading will continue until 3:40 PM. Here’s all you need to know about CAS👇 https://youtu.be/h2_ic-pCzB4?si=dHRGVlGkAW1-ARB9

The closer you get to a financial goal, the less time you have to recover from a market fall. Yet many portfolios remain just as risky near the goal as they were at the start. Reducing risk over time sounds easy, but behaviour often gets in the way. When markets are rising, cutting equity exposure feels like missing out. When they fall, it feels like locking in losses. So many investors delay rebalancing and take more risk than they should. Life Cycle funds address this through a pre-defined glide path. They invest across equity, debt, and gold, gradually reducing equity exposure and making the portfolio more conservative as the target year approaches. Zerodha AMC has launched two such funds: - Zerodha Life Cycle Fund 2036: for goals roughly 10 years away - Zerodha Life Cycle Fund 2041: for goals roughly 15 years away The NFO is now open on Coin: https://coin.zerodha.com/mf/invest?nfo=show

Introducing Trailing Stoploss on Kite web. A regular stop loss stays fixed at the price you set. This works when you enter a trade, but it can become a problem if the trade moves in your favour. Say you buy a stock at ₹100 and set a stop loss at ₹90. The stock then moves to ₹140, but your stop loss remains at ₹90. If the price reverses, you could give back a large part of the move. The obvious solution is to keep moving the stop loss higher manually. But once the trade is live, it is easy to delay the decision, second-guess the move, or miss the price action altogether. With trailing stoploss, this adjustment happens automatically. The stop-loss trigger moves as the trade moves in your direction and stays unchanged when the price moves against you. The average investor typically has 2-3 demat accounts with holdings spread across them. The problem with this is that it makes tracking one's investments and filing taxes a nightmare. To make it easy for people to move their holdings to their Zerodha account, we'll now refund all depository charges (DP charges) that you incur to move your holdings to Zerodha. With this charge gone, pretty much everything at Zerodha is free, including investing in stocks, ETFs, direct mutual funds, and bonds. Even the AMC is more or less free because of BSDA limits, and on top of that we're making the first-year AMC free. So you only pay if you do intraday or F&O trades. For all transferred-in stock, we let you enter the acquisition price so that your P&L isn't messed up and you can track your portfolio properly. We also offer the option to open a secondary demat account if you want to segregate your holdings for whatever reason — short- and long-term investments, for example. Most people postpone personal finance, thinking they'll deal with it once life becomes more stable. But life rarely becomes less expensive or less uncertain. There's always something to worry about. The cost of waiting isn't just missed returns. By the time most people get serious, they're starting from a much harder position. Because the breathing room that money gives you, to handle setbacks, take career risks, sit through a market crash without panicking, takes years to build. You don't need a detailed plan to begin. Just know what you earn, what you spend, what you owe, and what you're building toward. That's enough. If you’ve been meaning to get your finances in order but don’t know where to begin, this Varsity chapter is a good starting point: https://zerodha.com/varsity/chapter/background-and-orientation/

While everybody is busy stuffing an AI chatbot into every product, the folks at Tijori are using AI to build high-quality market research tools. They’re calling it Tijori Stack, and what they are doing is taking the messy and scattered universe of company disclosures, financials, filings, concalls, and regulatory documents, and extracting useful insights. They have several products: Concall Monitor: Get concall transcripts and AI summaries within minutes, along with checks on whether management is staying consistent with what they said earlier. Report on Demand: Generate quick company reports on risks, management credibility, and financial estimates using filings, concalls, financials, and disclosures. Radar: Set up custom alerts for the metrics or risks that matter to your thesis, from margin pressure and capex delays to promoter pledging and receivables. Atlas: Ask company-specific questions and get answers grounded in filings, disclosures, financials, and concalls instead of noisy public web data.
