  • New word: Sb's life can be saturated with sth (full of) Example: Most children lead lives saturated with gadgets.

  • Some parents believe that their children should do educational activities in their free time. Others say that in this way children are under pressure. Discuss both sides and give your opinion? Families have different ideas on how their children should spend their leisure time, with some parents suggesting children engage in educational activities. I firmly believe that it is paramount for children to take a break from learning and do physical activities. The proponents of educational activities can argue that these activities help youngsters reinforce their knowledge and stay focused. In fact, school curricula usually consist of multiple subjects, making it hard to excel in all of them unless children take extra lessons and activities. As a result, pupils may fall behind in some disciplines, leading to subpar performance and poor academic outcomes in the long run. In addition, playing games where children learn something, they can stay focused. If young people become strongly enthusiastic about other activities, it will be hard for them to focus on education again. This will, in turn, affect their academic results adversely. Nevertheless, I would argue that taking breaks from academic engagements is indispensable in children’s physical and personal development. If their lives are saturated with education-related tasks and events, children may end up burning out and losing motivation for learning. Once eroded, it is nearly impossible to recover their intrinsic interest in education. Therefore, parents need to organize non-educational activities for their children to prevent them from burnout. Sports games can be an ideal option. These activities not only allow children to develop physically, but also teach them vital social skills such as teamwork, peer work and sharing. In conclusion, some parents opt for educational leisure activities for their children because they may help pupils handle the workload at school and stay concentrated. However, I think other activities like sports are essential for child’s development. #task_2

  • Some people believe that city planners should plant more trees, while others thing they should build new houses Discuss both views and give your opinion. Populations in urban areas are continuously rising in number all over the world, exerting increased strain on city planning. There is a view that more houses should be constructed, whereas I subscribe to the perspective that trees are paramount to cities, given current environmental challenges. The proponents of the view that housing is more necessary in cities may argue that the problem of homelessness can be addressed by this initiative. In fact, homelessness in urban areas remains a pressing issue, which can be attributed to the high costs or limited availability of accommodations. Therefore, if there were more houses, it would decrease the prices, enabling more individuals to achieve home ownership. As a result, housing issues would be solved to a certain extent and fewer people would suffer from living on the streets. Despite the fundamental urgency of housing needs, I firmly believe that planting more trees should be the overarching aim of city authorities. Environmental issues make trees more indispensable than ever before. Primarily driven by an increasing number of motorized vehicles on roads, air pollution is one of the most serious global issues. It is linked to a myriad of long-term illnesses, such as asthma, to name just one. One of the viable ways of improving this situation is planting more trees because they are considered carbon sinks. For example, Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, has become the top among the cities with the most toxic air since the city planners focused more on building housing, even at the expense of cutting trees. In conclusion, some might think houses are more essential to cities to accommodate a growing number of city residents, but I contend that trees are more crucial as the situation with air pollution is worsening in urban areas. • Some people think phones and computers have a negative effect on the young peopleʼs reading and writing skills. To what extent do you agree or disagree? The current century is no doubt marked with incredible technological advancements, but opinions about the benefits of modern gadgets differ. There is a view that computers and smartphones exert a detrimental impact on reading and writing skills, especially among the younger generation. While I acknowledge some drawbacks of computers and phones, I believe they have a more positive impact on the literacy skills of young children. Up-to-date electronic gadgets have transformed many aspects of individuals’ lives. However, the most paramount effect of these technologies can be observed in the realm of education. In other words, these technological devices have made learning accessible to wider groups of individuals than ever before. Admittedly, children’s rudimentary literacy skills have been negatively affected by modern gadgets. This can be attributed to the fact that youngsters usually spend excessive amounts of time glued to their screens. Nevertheless, I firmly believe that technologies help children improve their literacy skills at large by expanding learning opportunities in more areas. Another argument in favor of computers and phones is how they have made learning more affordable for everyone. While in the past, children used to have to learn from only a limited range of books or workbooks and not everybody could afford them, nowadays it is possible to find a broad selection of materials for various tastes. Moreover, these platforms usually come with little to no charge. This, in turn, enables parents to encourage children to learn writing and reading skills with myriads of educational aids, such as video lessons and quiz platforms, just to name two. If children find the materials they are learning from interesting, they will acquire these literacy skills more effortlessly and efficiently. Therefore, we cannot overlook the role of technologies in education. In conclusion, some argue that technology is the enemy of children’s reading and writing skills. Nonetheless, I think this idea is fundamentally flawed as these devices have indeed improved literacy skills among the youth by expanding the access to learning and making it more affordable. • Some people say free time activities for children should be organized by parents. Others say that children should be free to choose what they do in their free time. Discuss both views and give your own opinion. There is a view that it is parents who should take the onus for organizing leisure-time activities for their children, whereas some people contend that children should be independent in making a choice regarding what activity they engage in. Personally, I firmly believe that a balanced approach, which includes both parental advice and children’s personal view, is needed to organize safe and effective activities for children. The proponents of the view that parents play a major role in children’s free-time activities claim that adults have considerably more life experience and knowledge, which enables them to make more informed selections. Thus, parents are more likely to organize safer, more effective and more beneficial activities. They will, in turn, benefit children more than the activities they would choose. This is because young individuals are prone to being influenced by various factors, including social media. As a result, trending video games, social media platforms may pose hazards to the physical and mental health of children. Therefore, some consider parents best equipped to curate the free-time of their children. In stark contrast, others follow the perspective that children should independently decide how to spend their leisure time. The primary reason is likely the belief that children are more aware of themselves. In other words, there is no-one who knows better than themselves where exactly their interests lie. In fact, if children are diverted into the activities they are genuinely passionate about, they will probably achieve higher results sooner. However, if the youth are compelled to do particular activities, which they exhibit less interest in, by their parents, there are unlikely to be significant results, as children engage in these activities merely to pass the time. With the aforementioned argument children’s independent choice can be justified. In conclusion, opinions differ in terms of who takes on the responsibility for organizing leisure activities for children. While some argue that parents are the key figures in this process, as they are more likely to make better choices due to life-experience, others support children’s independence because they know what is enjoyable to them. However, I think a mixed approach is indispensable in this process, which benefits both generations. (9/8/8/8)

  • INTRODUCTION The true function of schools has long been a subject of debate. While some people argue that they should primarily focus on enabling students to become valuable members of society, I strongly believe that schools should help individuals achieve their personal ambitions.

  • There is a view that the integration of modern devices into communication has adversely affected young individuals’ literacy skills. While using modern technology for correspondence confers some disadvantages¬- diminished real-life conversations and harm to physical health- I remain convinced that modern tools have significantly improved overall literacy skills.
