There are times when a young man, only twenty years old, is wrapped in a shroud — while you, in your old age, what more are you waiting for from this life? Imām Abū Sulaymān Ḥamd ibn Muḥammad al-Khaṭṭābī, a scholar of hadith and Islamic jurist (who passed away in the year 388H), in his book, Ma‘ālim as-Sunan – Commentary on the Sunan of Abū Dawood, 1/317, quoted: “If we do not know whether an unknown person is a Muslim or non-Muslim and they declare, 'I am a Muslim', we accept their statement (judging them as belonging to Islam).
