Rectification of the Hearts Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymīn, may Allāh have mercy on him, said: “When īmān becomes firmly settled within the heart, it compels a person toward righteous action. However, outward actions alone may not necessarily lead a person toward the rectification of his heart. The journey of Hajj begins with the Day of at-Tarwiyah, when the pilgrims of the House of Allah strip off all the enjoyments of life, seeking the Face of Allāh, and supplicating: ‘O Allah, here I am at Your service for Hajj.’ They dwell in Mina, preparing to witness and participate in the great events to come. Alhamdulilah, today is the 8th of Dhul-Hijjah, known as the ‘Day of Tarwiyyah’ [يوم التروية].
