Your wealth has a portion of evil in it. A benefit from a lesson by Shaykh Muhammad Bazmul حفظه الله, the official entrusted Mufti of Makkah. 📘 In his explanation of Sunan ibn Majah, the Book of Zakah. The Shaykh quoted a narration in which the Prophet (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, إذا أديت زكاة مالك فقد أذهبت عنك شره "Whenever you give the Zakah of your wealth, you have removed yourself from its evil". [at-Targhib wa at-Tarheeb by al-Mundhiry (1077), graded Hasan li-Ghayrihi by Albani (743) (rahimahumullah)] The Shaykh (hafidhahullah) commented: Meaning: “wealth contains harm and evil, and you can remove this harm/evil from your wealth by giving Zakah (and giving in charity). Make this a general principle: any wealth you have (or you acquire) that you want your Lord to - bless it for you, - increase it for you, - remove its evil from you, - and purify it for you, then frequently (or immediately) give a portion in charity. How many brothers informed us that they started a project when their capital was small, and they would give in charity daily 1-2-3 riyals—whatever was made easy—they gave it in charity (on a daily basis). They said, “By Allah, no period passed by except that our Lord blessed our business and our wealth! Our profits would reach us from every direction and place...” Therefore, you remove the evil from your wealth through charity. Give in charity. Take a portion from your wealth and give in charity, my Lord will place barakah in it.

And let not your hand be tied (like a miser) to your neck, nor stretch it forth to its utmost reach (like a spendthrift), so that you become blameworthy and in severe poverty. [Surah al-Israa’, 17:29]

  • Stay as far away as possible from those whose concern is worldly affairs and whose effect on you will be not be anything but evil. [Abu’l Faraj Ibn al-Jawzee (rahimahullaah), Sayd al-Khater, pg. 767]

  • al-Fuḍayl Ibn ‘Ayyād – Allāh have mercy on him – said: How will you be if you reach a time when you will see people who do not distinguish truth from falsehood, believer from unbeliever, trustworthy from treacherous, nor ignorant from knowledgeable, and neither recognize what is right nor censure what is wrong? [Ibn Battah (rahimahullāh) al-Ibānat al-Kubrā, 1:188] After reporting this narration, Imām Ibn Battah (rahimahullah) said: To Allāh we belong and to Him we will return! We have reached that time, we have heard this and have come to know most of it and witnessed it. If a man to whom Allāh has bestowed sound reasoning looks and thinks carefully and ponders the matter of Islām and its people and treads the rightly guided path as regards to them, it will become clear to him that most people have turned back on their heels, deviated from the correct path, and turned away from correct proof. Many people have started to like what they used to hate, allow what they used to forbid and recognize what they used to reject. And for sure – Allāh have mercy on you – this is not the (right) character of the Muslims, nor the behaviour of those who have insight into this religion, and neither of those who believe in it and are certain about it. [al-Ibānat al-Kubrā, 1:188]

  • al-Khattabi (rahimahullah) said: Someone (once) said: Keeping the company of bad people leads to having suspicions (and bad thoughts) about those who are truly sincere and good. [Kitāb al-‘Uzlah, pg. 416]

  • ‘Umar Ibn al-Khattaab (Rahimahullah) said: The happiest of people is the one under whose care people are happy because of him, and the most miserable of people is the one under whose care people are miserable because of him. [Manaaqib ‘Umar, by Ibn al-Jawzee (Rahimahullah), p.130] - ‘Umar Ibn al-Khattaab (Raḍiy Allāhu ʿan-hu) said: We used to say that this Ummah will be doomed by knowledgeable hypocrites. • The salaf (rahimahumullah) used to strive (hard) in performing the actions of goodness along with counting themselves to be from amongst the negligent sinners who fall short! As for us along with our evil deeds (sins), we count ourselves to be among the righteous! [Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali (rahimahullah), al-Hikam al-Jadeerah bil ‘idha’ah, pg. 49] 💳➡️🔁⭐️✈️

  • Muwarriq al-Ajli (rahimahullah) said: I haven’t spoken anything in the (state of) anger except that I had regret over (having said) it (after I calmed down and was) in the happy (state of mind). [az-Zuhd of Imam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal (rahimahullah), pg. 247, no. 1761, Maktabah Islamiyyah and in Sifatus Safwah, 2/147, no. 507] 💳➡️🔁⭐️✈️

  • Do not sell your Hereafter for your worldly life or you will lose them both together. [Sufyan ath-Thawri (Rahimahullah), Ḥilyat al-Awliyā, 7/35]

  • {قُلْ إِنَّ رَبِّي يَبْسُطُ الرِّزْقَ لِمَن يَشَاءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ وَيَقْدِرُ لَهُ وَمَا أَنفَقْتُم مِّن شَيْءٍ فَهُوَ يُخْلِفُهُ وَهُوَ خَيْرُ الرَّازِقِينَ} Say: "Truly, my Lord expands the provision for whom He wills of His slaves, and (also) narrows for (whom He wills). and whatever you spend of anything (in Allah's Cause), He will replace it. And He is the Best of providers." — 34. Surah Saba, v. 39

  • Sheikh Suleiman aal ash-Sheikh said: Many of the people of falsehood abandon the truth only out of fear of their worldly life being lost. [al-Dorar al-Saniyyah, 8/125]

  • Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (rahimahillāh) mentions: “… Salvation lies in connecting one’s heart with his Lord, entrusting his affairs to Him, and achieving complete reliance upon Allaah.” [Usool at-Tafseer, by Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (rahimahullah), pg. 194-195]

  • Shaykh Ibn Uthyameen (rahimahullah): ‎Gratitude must be shown for Allah’s favours by performing righteous actions. ‎[Sharh al-Arba’een an-Nawawiyyah, pg. 129, Shaykh Ibn Uthaymin (rahimahullah)]

  • Imam an-Nawawi (rahimahullah): Some of the Salaf (rahimahumullah), if one of them intended to supplicate for himself; then he would supplicate for his Muslim brother with that supplication, because it is answered, and he attains the like of that. [Sharh Sahih Muslim, 17/51]

  • Du'ā' is Worship Du'ā' is worship; as such, it is not befitting for the slave to become bored of worship. Du'ā', as the scholars have mentioned, requires patience. The Muslim must constantly supplicate and not become bored, because du'ā' is not merely asking for something; rather, du'ā' is worship. You worship Allāh with your du'ā', so how can you become bored of worshipping Allāh?! It is worship which contains a request, and the response to the request has been promised so long as the person does not become hasty. Allāh has perfect widsom. Perhaps Allāh desires to elevate your status and increase your good deeds by way of your du'ā', so He delays the response. Therefore, by increasing your supplication, you combine two virtues: increasing your reward and (receiving) the answer to your du'ā'. So do not become hasty. [Book: Explanation of the Concise Advices of Shaykh-ul-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah (Rahimahullah) by Shaykh Sulaymān ar-Ruḥaylī (Hafidhahullah), pg. 214, Authentic Statements Publishing]

  • Whoever frequently knocks on a door is on the verge of it being opened for him; and whoever supplicates (makes du’a) often, is on the verge of it being accepted. [Abu ad-Darda’ (raḍiyAllāhu ‘anh), Shu’b al-Imaan, no. 1102, al-Bayhaqi (rahimahullah)]

  • Two Places within Salah Where You Can Offer Du’a 1. During Sujood when in Salah The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “With regard to sujood, offer lots of du’aa’ then, for it is more likely that you will receive a response.” (Narrated by Muslim, 479). 2. After Tashahhud and Before Giving Final Salaam (between these two) Another occasion (to make du’a in salah) is after saying the final tashahhud and before saying the salaam. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “Then (after tashahhud and before starting to give salaam) let him say whatever du’aa’ he wants.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari and Muslim).

  • Do the Opposite 📺⬅️ Abu Suleiman ad-Darani (rahimahullah) said: The best of deeds are in opposition to the desires of the soul. [as-Siyar, Abu Nu’aym (rahimahullah), 10/183, Abu Suleiman ad-Darani (rahimahullah)]

  • Narrated Abu Sa’id al-Khudri (radiyAllahu ‘anhu): Once the Prophet (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) sat on a pulpit and we sat around him. Then he said, "The things I am afraid of most for your sake (concerning what will befall you after me) is the pleasures and splendors of the world and its beauties which will be disclosed to you." Somebody said, "O Allah's Messenger! Can the good bring forth evil?" The Prophet (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) remained silent for a while. It was said to that person, "What is wrong with you? You are talking to the Prophet while he is not talking to you.” Then we noticed that he was being inspired divinely. Then the Prophet (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) wiped off his sweat and said, "Where is the questioner?" It seemed as if the Prophet (ﷺ) liked his question. Then he said, "Good never brings forth evil. Indeed it is like what grows on the banks of a water-stream which either kill or make the animals sick, except if an animal eats its fill the Khadira (a kind of vegetable) and then faces the sun, and then defecates and urinates and grazes again. No doubt this wealth is sweet and green. Blessed is the wealth of a Muslim from which he gives to the poor, the orphans and to needy travelers. (Or the Prophet (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said something similar to it). No doubt, whoever takes it illegally will be like the one who eats but is never satisfied, and his wealth will be a witness against him on the Day of Resurrection." [Sahih al-Bukhari, 1465 In-Book Reference: Book 24, Hadith 67]

It was narrated by `Umar ibn Al-Khattāb (rahimahullāh): Do not think badly, (misinterpret or make assumptions) of a word uttered by your brother when you can find a good interpretation for it. [Majmoo' Fataawa Ibn Bāz (rahimahullāh), 26/365]
