- 27 дек.Career Visit BiT Career Development Center (BiT CDC) successfully organized a career visit to Bahir Dar General Flexible and Foundry Factory for 4th year Mechanical Engineering students, aiming to strengthen the linkage between academic theory and real industrial practice. During the visit, students explored key industrial sections, including: ▪️ Foundry (metal casting) operations ▪️ Machine shop ▪️ Metal fabrication and welding ▪️ Finishing and painting ▪️ Reverse engineering (complete disassembly and re-assembly of machinery such as tractors) ▪️ Assembly section, including the animal feed processing machinery plant (completed within 20 days) 🔹 The Foundry Section was presented by Mr. Melakneh Tadese, Deputy General Manager, who explained casting processes, quality control measures, and defect prevention techniques. 🔹 The Machining and Fabrication Section was guided by Mr. Haile Mariam Zeleke, Production Department Head, focusing on machining operations, material selection, fabrication methods, and assembly practices. Ms. Gedam Tafere, BiT CDC Training Coordinator, and Ms. Netsanet, BiT CDC Career Guidance and Counseling Coordinator, emphasized the importance of: - Developing practical industrial skills alongside academic excellence - Building professional ethics, teamwork, and effective communication skills - Preparing for career readiness, employability, and entrepreneurship - Actively engaging in industrial exposure, internships, and lifelong learning Their guidance also highlighted the critical role of career visits in shaping students’ professional mindset and future career pathways. The opening ceremony was officiated by Dr. Amare Kassew, Bahir Dar Institute of Technology Deputy Scientific Director for Academic Affairs. In his keynote address, he highlighted Bahir Dar University's mission and vision, emphasizing the university's commitment to producing competent graduates and strengthening its community engagement through demand-driven capacity-building programs. He also encouraged participants to make the best use of the two-month training opportunity to enhance their knowledge and future career prospects. During the event, Dr. Amare Tesfie, Director of the Academic Quality Assurance and Enhancement Office, presented the major accomplishments of BiT-CDC and BiT-ELIC over the past years.
