Haramaya University College of Law recently hosted a productive consultative meeting with a delegation from the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) to explore strategic collaboration on Transitional Justice (TJ) and human rights advocacy. Building on the College’s prior initiatives in Transitional Justice and the EHRC’s national mandate, both institutions agreed to join forces to advance justice, accountability, and awareness in eastern Ethiopia. Key Areas of Cooperation Identified: 🔹 Victim Engagement & Outreach: Identifying and directly engaging victims in the Harari Region to raise awareness and ensure meaningful participation in the national TJ process. 🔹 Capacity Building: Empowering affected communities and vulnerable groups to effectively advocate for their rights. 🔹 Human Rights Advocacy: Collaborating on human rights violation investigations, joint reporting, and institutional promotion. As a gesture of continued partnership, the EHRC team donated valuable published reports—jointly produced with the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR)—including dedicated guides on the socio-economic rights of vulnerable groups and their engagement in Transitional Justice processes. Both teams concluded the meeting with a clear roadmap to translate these discussions into impactful action. @Hulsachannel @Hulsagroup
