  • NEP-641 has been just approved. "Offchain Authorizations for Smart Contracts" This standardizes the flow for signing and verifying offchain messages for smart contracts that power Passkey, EVM, multisig, and other wallet contracts. The first version of this standard was live and tested on Trezu, and now it is a standard for the whole NEAR ecosystem. Summary A view-function convention, w_resolve_auth, that lets any NEAR contract attest to offchain authorizations — dApp logins, offchain action approvals — without requiring a NEAR access key on the account. It defines: 1. the resolution interface: w_resolve_auth(path, authorization) -> { payload, pending } 2. recursive, caller-side resolution through pending sub-authorizations, so multisigs, extensions, and delegated wallets compose with any wallet type; 3. a standardized signable envelope, OffchainMessage, binding chain_id, signer_id, resolution path, signing timestamp, and the authorized payload; 4. a standardized full-access-key authorization (built on NEP-413), so regular NEAR accounts resolve through the same procedure. Full standard is here. If you want to see it in action, check out the sign-in flow for FaceID/TouchID or EVM wallets at http://trezu.org (NOTE: it uses a slightly older version of the standard right now, but that is not too far from the approved version and soon it will be updated to follow the final version of the standard) What is coming next? Passkeys and Wallet Connect (EVM wallets) will become available for every dApp on NEAR via NEAR Connect

Stake NEAR. Deploy IronClaw. Now your NEAR stake does two jobs at once: → It sets your monthly credit budget. → It determines how many agents you can run in parallel. Start with 50 NEAR get IronClaw Agent live in ~30 seconds. ➡️Try now: Ironclaw.com

  • Last week in NEAR: ✦ nearcore 2.13 went live on mainnet, bringing post-quantum signing, dynamic resharding, compact onchain key storage, and improvements to epoch sync and meta-transactions; ✦ Arto Bendiken released Edky 0.1, a CLI tool for converting Ed25519 public keys between different encodings; ✦ OutLayer went post-quantum on NEAR mainnet; ✦ The Agent Economy: Who Owns the Rails AI Runs On is worth a read for its take on who will control the agent economy’s infrastructure and how NEAR fits into it 🟦 Channel | Chat | LinkTree

Agent Market: Early Access, Cohort #1 Agent Market is opening early access ahead of general availability, and NearBuilders has been asked to bring the first cohort. The build is early. Cohort members will run real flows against live infrastructure, report what breaks, and see that feedback shape what ships next. You get working knowledge of the stack before the rest of the ecosystem does. Places are limited. Sign-ups close July 26. Link

  • Last week in NEAR: ✦ NEAR Foundation joined the x402 Foundation, bringing NEAR's infrastructure for confidential execution, private inference, and agent coordination to the growing ecosystem around the open x402 payments standard; ✦ Anton published a deep dive into the Wasmtime migration in nearcore 2.12, explaining why NEAR replaced its custom VM and the engineering trade-offs behind the transition; ✦ Confidential EURe went live on near.com, enabling users to hold, swap, and transfer euro-backed stablecoins privately across 30+ chains from a single account; ✦ Illia Polosukhin explained why AI sovereignty is gaining mainstream attention, arguing that open AI infrastructure with confidential inference and verifiable compute is the path forward 🟦 Channel | Chat | LinkTree

  • nearcore 2.13.0 has been released Protocol v86 voting starts on July 20. Once the upgrade activates, NEAR will no longer require protocol upgrades to introduce new shard layouts, as dynamic resharding can automatically split shards when they reach size thresholds. Last week in NEAR: ✦ Confidential Intents became generally available, letting any developer integrate confidential cross-chain execution through the NEAR Intents 1Click Swap API with a single parameter, with Vadim highlighting how OutLayer already makes these confidential rails accessible to AI agents through a simple HTTPS API; ✦ HSP-027 passed governance voting, removing the legacy developer gas rebate, with Illia Polosukhin explaining that the incentive no longer worked as intended and added unnecessary complexity to the protocol; ✦ Vadim broke down why NEAR is well positioned for the post-quantum era, explaining how its rotatable account keys make upgrading to quantum-safe signatures much simpler than on many other blockchains; ✦ near_dart is a good example of how ideas grow in the NEAR ecosystem, with the community helping refine the SDK through open feedback and discussion 🟦 Channel | Chat | LinkTree
