🇰🇷 #SouthKorea: Mass protests and rallies are taking place across Seoul today on Korean Independence Day, with demonstrations centered around Gwanghwamun and other parts of the capital. Protesters have been seen waving South Korean and American flags and calling for immediate elections, while other groups are demonstrating over alleged shortages of ballot papers during the June 3 local elections. 🇺🇸 #US: Luigi Mangione, the man accused of shooting and killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, has pleaded guilty to federal stalking charges in connection with the killing. In court, Mangione said, “I shot Mr. Thompson, and he died,” and acknowledged that he knew his actions were illegal. Mangione’s federal sentencing is scheduled for December 18th. Following the plea, his lawyers filed a motion seeking to dismiss the separate New York state case, arguing that prosecuting him for the same conduct would violate double-jeopardy protections. 🇷🇴 #Romania - 🇷🇺 #Russia: A Russian Geran-type drone crashed in Luncavița, Tulcea County, around five km from the Ukrainian border just moments ago. Romanian civilians filmed the UAV flying over the area. Romania’s Ministry of National Defence said yet again that the drone was not detected by Romanian radar systems, despite the immense amount of funding provided by the European Union for the purchase of systems intended to prevent such incidents. The drone crashed and exploded in a wooded area, reportedly causing no casualties. (via Știrile PRO TV)
