Foreign Minister H.E Abdisalam Abdi Ali Holds Telephone Conversation with Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mogadishu | June 9, 2026 The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, held a telephone conversation with the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, to discuss ongoing efforts to secure the release of the Pakistani nationals aboard the MT Honour 25. Minister Abdisalam reaffirmed the Somali Government’s continued commitment to supporting efforts aimed at ensuring the safety and early release of the hostages. Both ministers agreed to maintain close coordination until the matter is resolved. The two sides also expressed satisfaction with the positive trajectory of Somalia-Pakistan relations and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation across areas of mutual interest.

Somalia recognizes that there is only one China in the world, that Taiwan is an inalienable part of the territory of the People’s Republic of China, and that the Government of the People’s Republic of China is the sole legitimate government representing China in its entirety. The question of Taiwan is an internal matter of China. In this regard, Somalia reaffirms its firm and consistent adherence to the One-China Principle. Somalia resolutely supports China’s efforts toward national reunification and steadfastly upholds the legitimacy, validity, and authority of United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2758. The Federal Republic of Somalia further underscores that peace and stability are best preserved through respect for sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs in accordance with international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter, and mutual respect. ->###<

Somalia Reaffirms Unity After Israel’s Illegal Recognition of Somaliland Mogadishu, January 01, 2026 - The Diaspora Affairs Department (DAD) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation organized an open discussion on Thursday on the role of the Somali diaspora in defending national sovereignty. The discussion addressed Israel’s illegal decision to recognize the Somaliland region in northwestern Somalia, a move viewed as undermining Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E.
