Did Yazīd Ibn Muʿāwiyah -may Allāh have mercy on him and be pleased with his father- kill al-Ḥusayn Ibn ʿAlī -may Allāh be pleased with them both-? Question: "Did Yazīd not slaughter Imām al-Ḥusayn عليه السلام at Karbalāʾ? Therefore, why do you say رضي الله عنه for him and call him Amīr Al-Muʾminīn (leader of the believers)? Is al-Zahrāʾ (Fāṭimah), al-Ḥusayn's mother, not the daughter of your Nabī ﷺ?" Shaykh ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd Bin Yaḥyā al-Zuʿkurī al-Ḥajūrī حفظه الله ورعاه "Firsly, you are a liar! Yazīd Ibn Muʿāwiyah did not kill al-Ḥusayn Ibn ʿAlī and neither did he order to kill him. Rather, he sent to him ʿUbayd Allāh Bin Ziyād, and whatsoever was from the taqdīr (predecree) of Allāh عزوجل occurred. And the one who killed al-Ḥusayn Ibn ʿAlī, upon investigation, are the Rāfiḍah, they are the Shīʿah. They are the ones who'd say to ʿUmar Ibn Saʿd, they are the ones who'd say, "Kill him", because they feared exposition. They are the ones who wrote to al-Ḥusayn and made him leave (al-Ḥijāz), and then they were the ones who wanted him to be killed, and hoped for his killing. As for Yazīd Ibn Muʿāwiyah, then he honoured him, and he received and was hospitable to the Āl-Bayt of al-Nabī ﷺ, from their women and their children. Despite that, many of the Scholars said (about Yazīd): "We don't insult him, nor do we love him," even though we believe that al-Nabī ﷺ said: "أول جيش يغزو القسطنطينية مغفور له" "The first army to have an expedition against Constantinople is forgiven." And the commander of that army was Yazīd Ibn Muʿāwiyah. Moreover, not everything that has been written down in the books of history regarding Yazīd Ibn Muʿāwiyah is correct; most of it is from the path of the Rāfiḍah. From the path of Lūṭ, from the path of al-Kalbī, from the path of al-Wāqidī, from the path of those. Do not take into consideration their writings. Despite that, we are pained by this event and we say رضي الله عنه for al-Ḥasan and al-Ḥusayn رضوان الله عليهم. However, {تِلْكَ أُمَّةٌۭ قَدْ خَلَتْ ۖ لَهَا مَا كَسَبَتْ وَلَكُم مَّا كَسَبْتُمْ ۖ وَلَا تُسْـَٔلُونَ عَمَّا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ} {That was a nation who has passed away. They shall receive the reward of what they earned and you of what you earn. And you will not be asked of what they used to do.} [Sūrah al-Baqarah: 134] What's the connection with you and the family of al-Nabī ﷺ? You are not from amongst them, not here nor there. Āl-Bayt of al-Nabī ﷺ were upon his ʿAqīdah, they were upon his way, they were the companions of his companions, and the companions of his companions, whilst you are the enemies of his companions, enemies to his Millah, and enemies to his religion!"
