There are many conflicting opinions surrounding Ēostre being a concubine of Wōden. The primary idea comes from the etymological connection within Norse sources of her many mentioned husband Óðr. Within the Völuspá, Hyndluljóð, Gylfaginning, Skáldskaparmál, and Heimskringla. But also the poem Sörla þáttr. Which is much more theologically divisive. Sourced from the Flateyjarbók manuscript compiled by two Christian priests in Iceland: ——————————————— “-but the daughter of Njörðr was Freyja, and she was fellow to Oðin and his concubine.” ——————————————— “Oðin loved Freyja full sore, and withal she was the fairest woman of that day” ———————————————

Wōden and Ēostre

As Wōden cultists, we are concerned with studying the theophany and divine nature of our highest god, Wōden. By extension this also includes the marriage between Wōden and His wife, Frīg, and understanding the divine associations of His sons. I recommend following both Þórr Siðr and Holles Brauch for these reasons. Þórr Siðr is a Þunor cultist highlighting a lot of useful knowledge about Wōden's son, Þunor, primarily from a Norse perspective. Holles Brauch has shared interesting links between Holle and Frīg, developing our understanding of Her from a continental German outlook.

I hope all of you are well. It now seems appropriate for me to post this message to you all. I have had quite a lot on my plate lately. There hasn’t been much dedicated time on this project for what I’ve felt like has been too long. The goal from the beginning was to highlight foundational truths relating to our beliefs listed directly from sources. The ultimate goal began with the idea of helping an audience feel more confident with their worship. Details of personal beliefs and viewpoints aside, the motivation for all of this was to discern basic yet credible information for heathens. The support I have received for the very little I have done so far is nothing but appreciated. So I’ll make a proposal. Should I open a chat up within the channel? The idea being to hand off a piece of the platform to all of you, to keep the ultimate goal alive.

A pouch fit for an Anglo Saxon warlord! I made this pouch from thick vegetable tanned leather based loosely on finds from Birka and applied gold plated bronze Woden head mounts based on real Anglo Saxon artefacts, referred to commonly as WAINES (Woden Avatars in Numerous Environments).
