📒 Nexa August Highlights: NexaPoW 2.0 Introduced This August is exciting and brings us a lot of positive news. The president of Bitcoin Unlimited, Andrew Clifford, has explained the new 2.0 version of the NexaPoW algorithm, a fundamental improvement to the Nexa blockchain. Nexa Chief Scientist Dr. Peter Rizun and Lead Developer Andrew Stone are advancing NexaPoW from two directions. Peter Rizun is building the FPGA‑based hardware solution for mining and signature verification, removing the main full‑node bottleneck. Andrew Stone is driving the software side, integrating Tailstorm and evolving Nexa toward a hybrid DAG + blockchain architecture. A hybrid model means that the Nexa blockchain will make blocks faster to mine, ensure a fairer distribution of block rewards, and enable faster transaction verification. 📒 A Node Made of Wires In the first article of this series we explained why Nexa builds hardware. Proof-of-work spent seventeen years accelerating a computation that does nothing for the network's capacity, and Nexa intends to point that same force at the work a money network actually needs. This article shows what that hardware actually is, a machine for validating money, built out of the simplest electrical parts there are. Nexa Chief Scientist, Dr Peter Rizun, is building a node as a circuit of digital logic gates. To see how a circuit can validate a money transaction with no software involved, you only need to meet six components. Rethinking Proof of Work: Understanding Nexa's Architecture with Andrew Clifford Bitcoin Unlimited President Andrew Clifford joined Danielle Marie of EvolveH3r for a webinar on proof-of-work, where it came from, and what Nexa has done to advance it. After Danielle's introduction to the fundamentals of blockchain, layer one, UTXOs, decentralization and the blockchain trilemma, Andrew took those concepts and applied them to a functioning cryptocurrency from the origins of proof-of-work in the early 1990s as an anti-spam mechanism to its role in Bitcoin mining and security, and on to NexaPoW and what users need to know about mining Nexa after its next algorithm upgrade. The full recording and his presentation is recapped in the Nexa Forum below. 👇 https://forum.nexa.org/t/rethinking-proof-of-work-understanding-nexas-architecture-with-andrew-clifford/1729
Nexa Monthly Newsletter July 2026: Hardware Acceleration Highlighting July with hardware acceleration could not be more exciting. After a long period of research, testing, and development, the Blitz project is coming together, and the team is looking forward to publishing a series of articles that motivate and explain the technology behind it. This month we started that series with the article on why Nexa builds hardware. No less important was the publication of Nexa's 4th Anniversary Spaces recap, in which the lead developer provided insights into where the project is heading, how core blockchain improvements such as Tailstorm are progressing, and more. Alongside these, there is plenty more to cover: an updated Nexa roadmap for 2026 and 2027, newly released features, the updated explorer, the Wally wallet patch, and everything else recapped below. Why Nexa Builds Hardware Imagine a microchip that can do the same thing as your software node, but is faster, more reliable, uses less energy, and can be built for a fraction of the cost. This is not a distant dream, but the direction Nexa has been working toward for years. Nexa Chief Scientist, Dr Peter Rizun, designed Blitz, a hardware which verifies digital signatures and removes the dominant compute bottleneck for scaling cryptocurrencies. To understand the benefit of hardware acceleration, we first need to go back to when the first Bitcoin block was mined. Since then, the technology has improved more than 1,000,000 times, and the same improvement can be reached in scaling cryptocurrencies. Nexa is looking ahead and building the solutions of tomorrow, a foundation for the secure internet that everyone deserves. Blockchains are much more than just money; they also enable digital identities that can represent you online and belong to you instead of third parties. https://x.com/NexaMoney/status/2081107219932975266
Nexa 4th Anniversary Spaces with Andrew Stone, Andrea Suisani and David Thibodeau Four years ago, Nexa launched with a small group of people, a very ambitious technical vision, and the belief that scalable peer-to-peer electronic cash could be taken much further. Since then, Nexa has grown through changing market conditions, technical challenges, major infrastructure development, new applications, conferences, ecosystem growth, and now its first halving. Four years is a meaningful milestone, especially in an industry where projects, technologies, and entire narratives can appear and disappear very quickly. To mark the anniversary, the team came together for a live Space to look back at the journey, discuss the lessons learned, explore what is being built right now, and think about the direction Nexa takes as it enters its fifth year. Special thanks go to Don Alucard for moderating the event. https://forum.nexa.org/t/nexa-4th-anniversary-spaces-with-andrew-stone-andrea-suisani-and-david-thibodeau/1722
Monthly Development Updates: June 2026 June was a month of consolidation and construction. The largest task is still the second hard fork, with a sweeping locking and validation rework. It is being carved into smaller, reviewable chunks which land one at a time. Alongside that, the block explorer had its busiest month so far, smart-contract tooling was pushed to its limits with the Nexa Warriors contract suite, and time-lock vaults came within sight of completion. All of these updates, with more detailed information, can be found below in the June monthly development update. 👇 https://forum.nexa.org/t/monthly-development-updates-june-2026/1721
Nexa Explorer: New Features The Nexa Explorer just had another round of improvements. The main page was refreshed, and the transaction view was reworked to read properly on phones, so inputs and outputs are now clear on any device. Another notable delivery is self-hosting. Anyone with some technical knowledge can now run the explorer on their own machine, and a single command is all it takes to set up a local instance. There are also smaller touches that matter in everyday use: improvements to the Token Authorities tab, better visualization, and Nexa Fun, the page that surfaces historical and interesting events on the blockchain. Find the full update in the Nexa Forum below. 👇 https://forum.nexa.org/t/nexa-explorer-new-features/1719
