“If I could just change my circumstances, I’d be closer to Allah.” It’s easy to believe our circumstances determine the state of our hearts. “They’re the reason I struggle.” “They’re the reason I can’t grow.” Our circumstances certainly affect us. But they don’t remove our responsibility before Allah. No matter where Allah places us, our responsibility remains the same: to protect and grow our iman while seeking His help. The test may change. The responsibility does not. Reflection: Are you waiting for your circumstances to change before giving more attention to your iman? #12PrinciplesofTazkiyah RASHIDOON.COM

  • Ask a Better Question “How can I become happy?” “How can I protect my peace?” “How can I become the best version of myself?” Revelation teaches us to begin somewhere else: What has Allah created me for? What does He love from me? What path leads to His pleasure? This does not deny our hopes, needs, or desire for happiness. It puts them in their proper place. The Qur’an was not sent merely to answer humanity’s questions. It was sent to teach humanity how to see. 🔗 https://www.rashidoon.com/blog/3c1f9f59-7362-4d16-ac84-fff43d82b1c6 RASHIDOON.COM

  • When Happiness Becomes the Centre There is nothing blameworthy in desiring happiness. The problem begins when happiness becomes the starting point from which everything else is judged. Then worship may become valuable because of what it gives me. Patience because it protects my peace. Gratitude because it increases my contentment. Even closeness to Allah may be sought for the experience it gives me. Revelation restores the proper order: Allah is not a means to our fulfilment. He alone is worthy of worship. 🔗 https://www.rashidoon.com/blog/3c1f9f59-7362-4d16-ac84-fff43d82b1c6 RASHIDOON.COM

  • Knowledge Is an Act of Servitude The human intellect is a gift. But it was never intended to function independently of revelation. There will always be realities beyond its reach. Recognizing those limits is not intellectual weakness. It is humility before the vastness of Allah’s knowledge. Knowledge itself is an act of servitude. The servant who knows where his knowledge ends may be closer to wisdom than the one who believes nothing should remain beyond him. 🔗 https://www.rashidoon.com/blog/3c1f9f59-7362-4d16-ac84-fff43d82b1c6 RASHIDOON.COM

  • What Deserves Your Attention? The Qur’an does not simply respond to whatever occupies our curiosity. At times, it redirects the question towards what is more beneficial. At times, it reminds us of the limits of our knowledge. Revelation teaches the believer not only what to know, but what deserves to concern him. It redirects attention from what merely satisfies the intellect towards what nurtures servitude, gratitude, humility, and preparedness for meeting Allah. 🔗 https://www.rashidoon.com/blog/3c1f9f59-7362-4d16-ac84-fff43d82b1c6 RASHIDOON.COM

  • Begin With Allah The opening of the Qur’an teaches us where everything begins. Before the servant speaks of his own needs, he is taught about his Lord. Allah. His Lordship. His mercy. The Day of Judgement. Then comes worship. Then seeking His aid. Then the request for guidance. We have become accustomed to beginning with ourselves and asking how Allah fits into our concerns. Revelation teaches us to begin with Allah and, through knowing Him, to understand ourselves. 🔗 https://www.rashidoon.com/blog/3c1f9f59-7362-4d16-ac84-fff43d82b1c6 RASHIDOON.COM

  • Can a person serve the Deen… …while slowly serving their nafs? It doesn’t happen overnight. A sincere desire to benefit the Ummah can gradually become a desire for recognition, influence, and prominence. The path of service has many tests. Sometimes the greatest danger isn’t outside us. It’s within us. Read more: 🔗 https://www.rashidoon.com/blog/11bbead1-8bac-4b15-b448-9e444ab3d5ba RASHIDOON.COM

  • Revelation Corrects the Lens The Qur’an does not merely answer the questions occupying the human mind. It reforms the human being asking them. Before correcting actions, it corrects perception. Before reforming behaviour, it reforms our understanding of Allah, ourselves, this world, and the Hereafter. Information can increase without changing the heart. Guidance reforms the lens through which everything else is seen. 🔗 https://www.rashidoon.com/blog/3c1f9f59-7362-4d16-ac84-fff43d82b1c6 RASHIDOON.COM

  • An Age Overflowing With Answers We live in an age overflowing with answers. Lectures. Articles. Podcasts. Opinions. Advice. Knowledge has never been more accessible. Yet confusion has not disappeared. Because information alone cannot correct the lens through which we understand reality. It is possible to spend years collecting answers without ever asking whether we inherited the right questions to begin with. 🔗 https://www.rashidoon.com/blog/3c1f9f59-7362-4d16-ac84-fff43d82b1c6 RASHIDOON.COM

  • Questions Are Not Neutral A question is not simply an empty vessel waiting for the correct answer. Every question begins somewhere. Hidden within it may be assumptions about the purpose of life, the meaning of happiness, the place of suffering, and what should stand at the centre of human existence. If we accept the question without examining its premises, we may have already accepted far more than we realize. Before searching for the answer, examine the question. 🔗 https://www.rashidoon.com/blog/3c1f9f59-7362-4d16-ac84-fff43d82b1c6 RASHIDOON.COM

  • Who Taught You What to Ask? Every civilization teaches its people what to admire, what to fear, what success looks like, and what should be pursued. But more subtly, it also teaches them what questions are worth asking. We inherit ways of thinking through language, education, entertainment, culture, and the conversations surrounding us. Until eventually, we may find ourselves asking the same questions as everyone else without ever asking: Where did this question come from? 🔗 https://www.rashidoon.com/blog/3c1f9f59-7362-4d16-ac84-fff43d82b1c6 RASHIDOON.COM

  • When the Question Is Already Wrong The greatest deception is not always being given the wrong answer. Sometimes it is spending years answering the wrong question. We are often so focused on finding the right answer that we never stop to examine the question itself. What assumptions are hidden within it? What does it assume about who we are, why we exist, and what should stand at the centre of our lives? Sometimes guidance begins before the answer. It begins by correcting the question. • Many people ask how to bring more peace into their lives. Tazkiyah begins with a different question. What is competing with Allah for the attention of my heart? The heart was not created to carry countless masters. The more divided it becomes, the more restless it becomes. When Allah becomes the greatest concern of the heart, everything else begins to find its proper place. Reflection: What has been competing for the attention of your heart lately? #12PrinciplesofTazkiyah RASHIDOON.COM

  • Success isn’t measured by visibility. Some people spend their lives serving Allah… …and almost nobody knows their names. Others become widely known… …yet leave behind little lasting benefit. The Ummah doesn’t only need more public figures. It needs more sincere people filling the gaps that nobody applauds. • Sometimes we become discouraged because we expected the path to Allah to be quick. But the heart was not created to change overnight. Just as it is influenced over time… It is also nurtured over time. Every act of obedience. Every moment of remembrance. Every sincere repentance. None of it is wasted with Allah. Reflection: Are you expecting instant change where Allah has created gradual growth? #12PrinciplesofTazkiyah RASHIDOON.COM

  • Not every good intention produces good results. Sometimes we choose work that doesn’t match our abilities. Sometimes we pursue projects because we admire someone else. Sometimes we spend years building… …what was never ours to build. Knowing where not to serve can be just as important as knowing where to serve. One of the greatest deceptions is believing that our surroundings have little effect on us. We say, “It doesn’t influence me.” “I can handle it.” “I’m only watching.” “I’m only listening.” Yet Allah created the heart to be affected by what it repeatedly encounters. Wisdom is not found in overestimating ourselves. It is found in protecting what Allah has entrusted to us. Reflection: Is there an exposure you’ve excused because you assumed it wasn’t affecting you? #12PrinciplesofTazkiyah RASHIDOON.COM

  • Just because you’re passionate about something… …doesn’t mean the Ummah needs it. Passion is valuable. But passion alone is not a compass. A meaningful contribution begins by asking: What does the Ummah actually need? Not merely: What excites me?
